Looking at this Crossfire. I'm a noob. Advice?
Hey folks, I'm 18 and looking to buy my second car. I've been looking around at used cars when I saw this crossfire.

Are they asking too much? What should I look out for? I'm a serious noob so give some advice!
Haven't had time to go in for a test drive but I want to make time soon.

Condition is everything. 144k is pretty high milage and that is in the rust belt so would want to look at the underside (best if can put on a lift) and if rust, I'd leave.

So if there is no rust do you think I should go for it?

Check very carefully above the rear wheel arches and bottom of the doors.
If rust free, then that's a pretty good price.
If the tires need replacing, then figure around $800 for that.
$100 or so for an oil change ( 8.5 quarts of Mobil1 0w40 and a fleece filter )

And odd ignition/electrical/computer issues can be very expensive from what I have read, but if everything, (I mean everything) works now, after 144,000 miles, it must be good or already replaced.
If possible insist on 2 working keys, that mechanically unlock door, and will start car, and also all locks work including liftgate and fuel door.
Make sure all warning lights work with key on before starting, and none are lit when driving.
IF no leaks and no rust, and everything works, and if you have spare cash for unusual repairs, it seems fairly priced.

Because it's RWD? I hate FWD in the snow. Doesn't feel right to me.
Re: Looking at this Crossfire. I'm a noob. Advice?
Yes, because it's RWD. Never owned a 4WD but I'm old enough to remember when all we could buy was RWD. AWD or FWD is a much better option for wintery MI roads.

To each their own. However, it isn't a big enough reason to pass on the car.
Re: Looking at this Crossfire. I'm a noob. Advice?
I would say the worst part would be the 35 series sport tires in the back. I nice set of 17" soft winter tires would be a big improvement. I am just guessing, and I will find out probably real soon in Pittsburgh.
