Need Some Sidewall
Need Some Sidewall
Having busted another wheel on my '05, this time the rear drivers side, on a pothole, on a very cold night, doing about 25 mph... I'm saying uncle and want to try some smaller wheels where the tires are a little more resilient to the streets of New Jersey. Has anyone tried fitting wheels and tires that minimizes the actual wheel size and maximizes the height of the tire without having to do any crazy modifications to the car and still have the whole works fit in the wheel well, clear calipers, etc? (Trying not to reinvent the wheel... as the saying goes...is there a simple fix?)

Re: Need Some Sidewall
"Wheels from a CLK also fit our NA cars. " well before about 2011. Mecedes used two different 5x112 bolt sizes, a 12mm using a ball seat lug and a 14mm using a cone seat. All Crossfires are 12mm.
Unfortunately the machining takes place after the wheel is cast so is not on the back, just need to check with a 14mm or 1/2" bolt
