flat tire air pump
flat tire air pump
I just bought a 2005 coupe. It's lacking the flat tire air pump. I've searched on Ebay and they are available for a reasonable price, but there are several different part numbers. Generally they're listed using the MB part number: A 000 583 10 02, A 000 583 12 02, A 000 583 15 02. I think the part with "15" in it is for a newer MB, as the pressure gauge is built into the plastic case. Are these really functionally equivalent? Don't any of them fit in the slot under the trunk mat? Don't they all work the same? Are there any differences, other than cosmetic?
(I've read the warnings about using the tire sealant, good to know.)
Thanks in advance.

Re: flat tire air pump
Don't waste all that money. There are several similar pumps out there for under $75. Search the internet for "Tire Inflator", my Crossfire came with a "Slime" version as well as the OEM version. I keep the OEM one in the car and put the Slime one in my truck.
We don't know why the previous owner had two in the car, the OEM one works well, I've used it three times in the year I've owned the car.
I think any pump described as a "Tire Inflator" will do the job - but I'd caution about going TOO CHEAP on something that can save the day like these things can. Just make sure you are buying/ordering a 12Volt not 120 volt version.

I'm sorry to have offended you Jim, wasn't my intention, I said it as a joke, that was the reason for the wink. Give it to someone who can use it or even sell it. I paid $36+ for mine. Again sorry you took it the wrong way. Why punish someone else for something I said, give the poor guy a break.
