Default New tyres (or tires) fitted today.

Just fitted some new boots onto the Crossfire. After a lot of searching through the forum and other sources settled on the Kumho Ecsta le sport KU39. They were in the right price range for me, good balance of wet grip and noise.

They replace a very worn set of Pirelli P Zeros which had become deafening over the last thousand miles or so, plus the road holding especially in the wet was getting a little bit scary! Whilst they were not down to the wear indicators they were close.

So the Kumhos, ordered them from here,

Ordered on Friday lunchtime, delivered Monday lunchtime!!! Hows that for speedy delivery.

On the drive home with the new ones on, much quieter! Seems to grip in the dry really well although I will give it a few days to wear off the release agents before seeing what they can really do. Yes I went for the 275/35 option and they look great, really do fill the arches nicely and the view from the back looks ace!

As another poster has said check the pressures! both of mine were still at 40psi! Also dont forget to check the wheel nuts (or lug nuts) this time only 2 on each wheel were overtightened. In the past I have had some that needed the use of a 6 foot breaker bar to undo, try doing that at the side of the road in the dark and rain with the supplied wheel wrench!

Last place that fitted four tires for me on the Crossfire had one side at 5psi under and the other side at 5psi over.
Not learning a lesson, I had them put tires on my wife's car, she's not deaf so she heard the loose wheel after a short drive. The tire place manager tried to tell me it was caused by rust on the hubs. I guess rust disappears when it is clamped up on. Anyway if they thought it could be a problem they should have cleaned it up. I laughed in his face.

I am looking at buying a set (4) of kumho ecsta le sport tires at $230 pr tire. I am in Canada so if I pay cash I get 4% off parts and labour...still seems pricey pr tire. What do y'all think? Plus 80 bucks to mount and balance. Altogether $1, 092.00 Should I keep looking? The continentals I have on are originals and are getting hard an cracked. What is best brand for Crossie? I don't race but need tires that will grip in wet conditions...I have a jeep for the icy snowy stuff....would like a good all season tire one that is not noisy.., thanks for any help.

Holy c*ap on a cracker!
General G-Max AS-03 from Tire Rack. OEM sizes. $592 for all 4 + shipping and install.
You can search Tire Rack for the installers in your area that they ship to and they show the install cost so you can calculate the entire package.
Should be under $800 unless the shipping to Canada is excessive.

Thanks for the info. I did check it out and it would be cheaper. BUT, there isn't anyone who can put the tires on through Tire Rack where I live within a 50 mile radius. Also I would have to pay more $ when the tires go through Customs. Plus pay to get them mounted & balanced. C%ap on a cracker is right! Oh well, it's only monopoly money!

I had my tires shipped to Canada about $40 a tire I think it was. Sure you have to pay for the install and taxes but it is worth it. I get as much as I can from the States, I'm fed up with our prices. Screw them.

I'm going with the Kumho's and I get a warranty because I'm buying them in Canada. After I mess with taxes, mount, balance and an extra fee to mount because I didn't buy them from a tire guy in town I end up paying the same...

Free health care!! Well, not really. We pay $120 per month for both of us. That gets us everything, hosp;, lab, xrays, etc. for free.no co-pays or forms to fill out...my brother in law and a lot of relatives in the States are paying over $700 per month for health care....they'll be working forever to pay for their health care premiums...hate to tell ya but I'm happy with the system here. I don't have to mortgage my home to pay for operations or emergency care. Oh, and wait times? I haven't had any nor has anyone I know. Must be propaganda from the States I'd rather have good health care and pay a bit more for tires, wouldn't you?

Way to go Diane. That's the first non political thought from you, keep 'em coming.

We can drive our toys to Hospital when we are sick, we do not have to sell them.

At least our government is working today so I guess we are paying enough for something.

I like my health care program... Just stay healthy!.. 52 years old and the last doctor I saw slapped me on the butt..

But don't worry about us.. soon as the government gets back to work there's a plan to take care of us all down this way!
