Question Tire vibration 45 mph+!! :(

So i own an 05 Crossfire N/A with 55k miles. I was driving on the highway last night 45mph+ and i noticed the front driver side wheel shakes and therefore the steering wheel shakes. Also when im crusing at around 10mph i could here a small grinding sound coming from that side of the wheel. What could be causing this? I took it to the dealer and they said it needs $3k in repairs. like WTF!! the car drives good but its just that one wheel. It also sounds like a woo woo woo sound when im driving at low speeds. and you can feel the faint vibration when driving. Please help!!

Wheel bearing! Get it fixed before you seize it and it sends you off the road!

Its not hard to do but you do need to press the old ones out and the new ones in. Pretty much any place that does break work can pull it off.

What are they doing for 3K?

I'm guessing that the tire has problems, switch the wheels from side to side for a test run. If there is a change you have solved the problem and it is the tire.

This very same thing happened to me at the same speeds roughly but on the passenger side. My issue was in fact the wheel bearing that had worn away and needed replacement. After repairing, there was still a noise and slight vibration which was actually coming from the tire. Upon inspection, the tire was chewed up a fair amount on the tread, as though it was skipping along the ground. Replacing it as well as the rest of my tires (they were about due for replacement anyways and the shop had a good deal on 4 of them) completely eliminated the noise and vibration.

Possibly it is just the tire, but easily determined by jacking that wheel up and grabbing the top and bottom of the wheel and push/pull to see if any free play. If free play, then wheel bearings, and if so the tire has probably worn in a strange pattern also and will need replacing too.
