Fitting rear shock absorbers
Fitting rear shock absorbers
Hello guys,
I bought a manual '05 plate crossfire a few months ago and recently put it through an MOT - which it passed thankfully! However, the rear driver's side shock absorber was an advisory which would tie in with the clunking noise I get when going over speed bumps (of which there are lots in the UK).
My question is: how difficult is it to replace the shock absorbers if I was to buy these parts myself? Is it straight-forward job or something for the garage? My father is a pretty competent DIY mechanic so I can get a hand from him.
I assume they need replaced in pairs...
Cheers,
Warren

Replace in pairs would be best and worth the effort.
Re: Fitting rear shock absorbers
Might not be the shock making the clunking noise. Probably the best thing to try first though. When it is getting replaced check the sway bar mounts and where the mounting studs are attached. Some members have had that area crack and break causing a clunking noise.

Here is the link that shows what Jessee is talking about.
