Default ~ TIRES ~ which BRAND to buy or NOT to buy ? ? ?

Planning to purchase new TIRES for the Roadster.

Would like to receive any feedback on personal experience with
any of the more popular brands available for our cars.

I have read some good reviews on TOYO
but would like to consider other options before making my decision.

Do a search, tons of info. Seems to boil down to 2 or maybe 3 tires.

Since my racing days are way behind me, I don't need the ultra-sticky, last for 10K miles and cost bookoos of cash tires. My next tire wil be the Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Seems like a good all around tire for the price.

I just orderd a set today from Tirerack. I have a wholesale account set up with them. 644.81 Delivered. I went with 225/40/18 275/35/19. If anyone is from the Indy area I will be happy to pass along me discount to any of the crossfire family. Only catch is you have to pick them up from my shop,
Tim

i had ps2's stock, i liked them but they wore quick and felt weird to me when pushed hard. i went with bridgestone re760 sports next, and they lasted the longest, were most predictible, and where my favorite so far. now i have about worn out a set of yokohama s drives and they wore unevenly, make lots of noise and the worse i've used.

the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 fans, have you compaired these to the bridge stone re760 sports? i like the price, but i also like a long lasting tire and the tread wear rating on these is on the low side. i could be a different buyer than most here though since my car is mostly a commuter.

I have been running Toyo Proxes T1-R's and I Absolutly love these Tires! The feel at the limit and the Lack of road noise on most surfaces. They also handle wet Pavment very well. However They are Pricey and get average grades on durability. I get 12-16,000 miles But i do drive it like I stole it!

I still have the original PS2s on mine. I like the tires, they handle good but I think they are starting to get a little noisy. I have almost 14,000 on the car now but there's still plenty of tread (so far). I'm shooting for at least 20k, but my next set I'm going to have to go with high performance all season, so anybody who has input on all seasons, I'd love to hear it.

I have PS2 A/S on my Limited and the original PS2's on my SRT6. When I need tires for my SRT6, I'll be getting PS2 A/S+.

The answer would seem to depend on what you're looking for from a tire.
Is the car a daily driver?
Do you drive in rain?
Do you drive in snow?
Are you looking for the best traction/performance?
etc,

The question is - what is the best tire for your needs and driving style.

Because I drive in the snow, I got the Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
Their performance is outstanding in the snow, which I expected, but they also grip extremely well in the corners - which I did not expect. I push the car pretty hard in all weather conditions and I *love* these tires!

The Continental's were the one's I have been looking at. They have a really good reviewer rating. I use mine as a daily driver right now and do drive in rain --- and snow only if I get caught in it (if I plan in advance, I use my other car, which is primarily used by my son right now).

Thanks for your input. It's good to know they perform well under all conditions, and handle well too!

I think the Hankooks are a good all-around tire. Makes my car act like it's on rails in the curves and (so far, from what others have posted) they deliver a number of miles as well.

Mine are still super-new, front ones have 620 miles on them, rears have 1200 - so all I can say is that they start out quiet and handle wonderfully. Go read that thread! I cant tell you what they do in the snow, but I like 'em in the rain.

Just bought Michelin Pilot Sport A/S for mine. Stay away from the PS Summer tires. They're really sticky at least until they get hot and start melting.

I just put the Hankook's on last wednesday. I can tell you I have never liked a new set of tires as much as these. Best buy in my opinion.

Depends on where you live but the tires on this car arent cheap by no means. The best deal would be to get tire/wheel packages. Achilles ATR Sport (Summer) i downgraded to 18 inches on all 4 tires and i have speedy illusion rims on 225/40/18*4
