Default BAS ESP warning light

Hello all. My 'BAS ESP' warning light just came on while driving last night and wanted to ask all of you what is the worst/best case scenario for this? Anyone had this warning light come on before? If so, what was the actual problem? What was the cost to repair? I wll be taking it to the mechanic very soon and was hoping to get some feedback from you all prior to doing so.

Thank you

Check your tire pressures. Ours comes on on the coupe and I've found that one or more of the tires is a few pounds low. When I fill up the tire(s), the light goes out.

Thank you Inferno! I had the tire pressure checked and everything is ok. However, the warning light is no longer on. It goes on and off.

Easy solution maybe but why was the brake fluid low? That's the question that I would ask myself.

I drive an '06 limited coupe with 40,000 on it and my BAS/ESP light came on once about 2 weeks ago. I am almost positive it was because I had pulled into a parking lot to have a phone conversion and forgot to put it in park. After thirty minutes or so of having my foot on the brake with varying degrees of pressure applied (my girlfriend was making me crazy!), I looked down and the light was on.

I turned the car off and re-started it. I also rotated the steering wheel lock to lock. The light went out and hasn't come back on since. May have been a coincidence, but since part of the function of that light has to do with brake assist, it made sense at the time.
