I lifted my XF!
I lifted my XF!
Just kidding, I actually lowered it with Eibach Springs and just got it back. The springs havent setteled yet, so the front is raised by about 1 inch above stock height^^.
Anybody else experience that after install? How long did it take till the car finally dropped down to where it should?
Attached is a picture of the front being higher than usual...

Its got dot 5 pads in the front. The guy at the shop said it will prob. take a week till they settle. Seen it happen on the owners Porsche Cayenne. He said after the spring install the cars ride hight dident change at all, but about a week later it was slammed......Mhm.....this might become interesting....

Check that whoever did the install put the fronts on the front and the rears on the rear.... and that they arent on upside down

Damn it. This just blew my night.....I guess I'll have to get new pads and do the whole thing for the front again.
fml this is retarded. I thought the the best spring pad size was 5 and 1. I guess it wasent...And now I need to blow even more money on this.....damn it....
Thanks for the help anyways......

Here are the pictures.
I mean, something must be wrong. If I had dot 5's in the front before and dot 5's in the front now with Eibach springs, the front should sit lower. Right? Can someone please check my logic
The rear came down, but the front dident. But can the front raise that high only due to the spring pads? I guess I'll crawl underneath there and see if I see something that shouldent be....

Re: I lifted my XF!
I just crawled underneath the front. Everything is in place. The right spring, right way up and 5 dot spring pad. The car just sits higher.....
Maybe I dident have dot 5 pads in the front from the beginning.
Lets say I had dot 2 or 3 in the front to start with, put the Eibachs in and increased the pad size to dot 5, could this explain the massive lift?
The distance from rim to the panel in the front is 5 inches. Just an exact number to be more specific
Thanks for all the help so far! I really appreciate it.......

Re: I lifted my XF!
Agreed, it should drop immediately, and I can almost tell you for sure what happened...as it's the only thing I can think of.
when reinstalling the pad into the upper part of the housing, you must make sure that the spring is seated in its little "holder" correctly. The problem is, the metal-metal contact point for the spring also has one of these divots. I'd almost bet that the spring is not connected properly at one of these two points, and you DO NOT want to just wait for it to pop in....because ONE side might decide to pop in during a hard corner....yeah not fun.
The lower metal housing has a habit i've noticed of getting dirt/mud in there.....take the springs out, clean out that carrier, make sure everything is flush, tight, and right, then put them back on. Also, I know everyone else has said it, but check to make sure that you don't have them switched front-to-back, as this WOULD still lower the rear, but would ALSO raise the front. As far as bump stops go it's a POSSIBILITY, but I never trimmed the bump stops on the N/A (the roads never warranted it) and my front still dropped the prescribed amount.
Hope this helps.

Re: I lifted my XF!
I just came back from underneath the front. The spring is seated correctly in the spring pad. I wasent able to get a good picture of it, but I saw it.
Otherwise everythign else looks fine.
Attached are 2 pictures from the front. Does anyone see anything that shouldent be the way it is?
I think its just the spring pad. I guess I have to get new ones and install them.
What would recon. which spring pads should I use, dot 2 or 3 for the front to get it to an non-rubbing low?
Thanks for the help so far.

Re: I lifted my XF!
Okay, I just came back from the dealership and ordered new dot 3 pads for the front. I hope that will do the trick and bring it back down.
If the pads are exchanged, do I need to re-align it or can it stay the way it is now? Sorry for all these question, I just want to make sure
Thanks,
Darian

you should not need to do a realignment...

i was even thinking of gettin dot 2's but that was to risky with rubbing. So I just ordered 3's.
Yes, that is the set up that I will be also having then. I just hope that it will be the solution. Pads are coming in next week.
