Default Brake Flush

So it is time to bleed the brakes and I have everything all set to go but have one question. What size hose fits over the nipple on the calipers so I can drain the fluid into a container?

I have been using 3/8" OD with 1/4" ID tubing from Homely Depot.....seems to work okay...

you only need 1 qt. when you are all done you will have almost a pint left over. power bleeder is super easy to use but keep the pressure under 20 lbs to keep from blowing any seals

I would not use one of the pressure bleeders, stick to vacuum type.
Just used one yesterday, works great. Far better than gravity bleeding.
I put on new lines and the whole job was done in less than 15 min.

You can blow seals, requires more adapters to fit master cylinder, vacuum removes more air, more controllable.
Not that pressure systems dont work - I just think the vacuum is easier to use. IMO

i see. the power bleeder comes with the euro cap and has a press. gage to control the amount. pump it to 20 lbs and crack the bleeders. thats all you have to do. i never repump or add any fluid. just let it flow until clean fluid comes out. for me it was the only way to completely flush the system of air.

Maybe it was the one I used in the past but I did not care for it. I am sure it works fine as you use it.

The pneumatic vacuum pump with the auto refill was easier, maybe because I was using the compressor. The refill keeps the master cylinder full to the max line not over.
The vac pump lets me vac out the old fluid from the MC before starting, so there is no pumping old fluid through the system first.
I can recommned the MityVac MV6835.

Ok stupid questions. I finally got a chance to bleed the brakes today, got under the car and did not see the nipple I was expecting.

Where do you bleed the brake fluid from on these cars? Do you undo the brakelines or...?

Thanks for the help. I am hoping for a fast response so I can get this done today.

Thanks. I was being a dumbass and did not pop off the rubber cover. Figured it out right before your post.

Now time to go flush out the ATE Super Blue and replace with the Gold.

different size wrenches front to back! dont strip the back ones. they are metric and a real pain to find

Am I being blind again? Where are the nipples on the front calipers?

Should have paid more attention when I changed the brake pads a long time ago and had plenty of room to work.

It took a bit of running around but I was able to find the 9mm for the rear. Of course I thought I had a 9mm until the car was jacked up and the rear wheel was off.

I got the rear brakes bled although I wasted a bunch of fluid bleeding the first caliper. It continued to look fairly blue going through the tube I was using. I should have been looking at the fluid & not the tube. Luckily I had extra fluid on hand.

Under the rubber nipple just like the back.... it is doubling as the cable restraint for the brake sensor I believe..... I am looking at an SRT so it may be different...

Perfect - your comment about doubling as a cable restraint made it abundantly clear where it was located. Cheers!

I feel like I win the DA award of the day.
