Default TPMS sensors

Update December 2018
Go to post #351 for the latest definitive info on these sensors, ignore all info before that.

Update June 2018
The sensor to use is Schrader #33500

This sensor works in both the 315 MHz and 433MHz wavebands and thus serves all Crossfires which can have sensors of either band.
In Canada they cost Ca$62 each at Canadian Tire and in the US $39 at Tire Rack.
They do not have to be set by the dealer.
info provided by Reliableron
Another similar sensor is the Continental VDO REDI sensor, no confirmed info on this part as yet.

Are you saying the info in Post #1 is now accurate (updated)?

Thanks again, Gramps!

Please take note that on 180's post....

'.....the sensor available now only replaces one of the two types used on the Crossfire. This would be some of the 05's and some of the SRT's.'

Apparently my car is one of the 'some' as the local Americas Tires could not program the EZ sensor to my car..... This is not an issue to get too hyped up about for me....

I hope so.
The OEM numbers are confusing and I hope I have them correct now.

That is a very wise thing to do and it should be a regular habit.

But the TPMS is meant to warn you of leakage while driving and before a dangerous situation occurs resulting from low air pressure. Checking the tires often, even before a trip down to the corner store, will not prevent punctured tires and the resulting air loss on that little trip. That is what the system is for, not to provide blanket coverage on air pressure maintenance. Tires used at the pressure just before the light comes on will wear rapidly and reduce gas mileage.

They are only good as long as the batteries last.

Can you see if you can take an old one apart and replace the battery in it? We would be in your debt if you succeeded, your reward would be a mention in the Forum Honor Roll, not cash. Sorry.

Electricity is your field so get to it.

You piqued my interest so I stripped one down. It is very heavily potted with a super tough elastic polymer. The battery is a Maxell CR245HR..3 volt putting out 2.99volt at this time. Replacing it not worth the labor cost. Battery diameter 25mm. last a long time. gary

Some Corvette sensors were refurbished with new batteries and were succesfully used again.

I think that fitting new batteries is worthwhile, remember the three R's of the green society.

At the price these are I think it is a worthwhile endeavour. These lithium batteries can be had for less than 50 cents a piece on ebay.

Can you show us some pictures?

How long do those lithium batts. last? I'm getting new tires next week and wondered if I should get new sensors, or just do the rebuild kit. Our 05's, built in 04', are now 7 years old.

I just read this earlier post and I'm pretty sure those 3v batt.'s are 3.2-3.4v new. So a 2.99 is waning, and they drop off quickly at the end as I've heard tell. Someone please correct me on that if that's not right. Thanks for the effort on the investigation arado.

I think ten years is the goal.
Four new sensors for $90, check the part number.

Chrysler Crossfire TPMS 05 - 08 A0045429818 Daimler OEM by Siemens VDO | eBay

Hmmm, the Chrysler part number the ebay link gives does not match either of the part numbers you listed in post 1. I know for a fact my CF uses Schrader/BP 20028 as I took it off the unit when I swapped TPMS sensor from one rim to the other. They furnish a phone number so one should call first knowing beforehand which sensor they have if they own an 05.

BTW, Amazon sells the Schrader/BP 20028 units for around 33 bucks each. More money of course, but if someone only needed one.

There's no way I'm shutting the TPMS system off on my car (wire #2 trick) for 90 bucks. Cheap insurance.

One (or more) of the TPMS sensors on my 2006 Coupe died this spring. It was a slow death. The warning light would be on for a while, then off when the weather warmed up, then back on when the weather turned colder. I checked the tire pressures and they were all correct. Perhaps next time I need new tires I will look into replacing the sensors. I would have preferred to swap out the batteries if I had only known that the sensors were near end of life, but hindsight is indeed 20-20.

I did say check the part number, the numbers on these sensors are quite confusing. Some sensors come as kits comprising all the parts required, some come as a sensor with a service kit and the various kits have different part numbers. I have yet to figure out the system. The numbers I have listed do seem to be OK but I think some parts which are the same as my listed numbers come with different numbers for some reason. Some Chrysler cars use the same Schrader replacements as the Crossfire but have different Chrysler OEM part numbers.
