Lightbulb More to a tire than it's size

I'm sure everyone knows what their tire sizes are or should be. How about all the other numbers? I've been checking on tires, brands, tread design etc and at the price of the run flats, I figured I better know what I'm buying.
The most comprehensive link I've come across so far is from Tire Rack. Ever wonder what those little yellow pieces of tape are on a new tire? What the speed rating is? How to measure remaining tread depth with a coin? Age of the tire? etc. etc.. This won't pick your brand for you, but will tell you what you are picking.
