Cool Tyre Size Question

Soon I'll be wanting new rear tyres, Has anyone had experience using 265 - 35 - 19 or 275 - 35 - 19 tyres rather than the standard 255's. How suitable are these oversizes, what make were they and how well did they wear?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi There
I have the same question. I just found this thread and there are others using 275's which are cheaper then the 255's as they are more common occording to my tyre guy.

I would only go with standard tyre sizes IMHO.
The problem with going with a wider size is the rolling circumfrence.
255 is 89 and 275 is 96.
Not sure how much difference it would make but you did ask.

Ok... so the width effects the circumferance of the tyre at speed, kind of makes sense, based on centrifugal force on the tyre. Maybe thats why the tyre guy was suggesing 275 30 19's. I thought he just forgot the profile of the current tyre is 35 for a second. The only affect I could think of would be to the speedo as it would doing more revolutions.

I found this site... I did not consider this.

The difference would be +2.1 klms. Not a great deal in the scheme of things.

I can live with both.

Hi

We have just put on a set of Marangoni Mythos on our Crossfire
225/40/18 front
275/30/19 Rear

Great set of tires I also run them on my Altima and have run the Zeta Linea on a Mustang.

I have had NO issues whatsoever, Wet and Dry performance is absolutely great.

Hi Ron
Thanks for the reply. I have another 12 months on my tyres though will keep all this in mind when I replace the lot. Should be quite a saving on price. Do you have any photos of the rear tyre and how it looks on the rim as the 255's look a little small.

Cheers
