Default Looking to buy...help

Hi

I've been looking at the Nissan 350z GT up to now and was dead set that the car for me however my boyfriend told me to have a look about and not be so blinkered and that's been i came across the Crossfire coupe.

I saw a beauty on Autotrader (unfortunatley it's now sold) and it set my heart racing for the first time in a while. I have to say i was thrown by how reasonable they seem, i'd never even considered one before and i'd always just presumed they were expensive..they certainly look it, i think!

Anyway i'm looking at spending up to £8K and wondered what age/mileage/spec i should expect for my money. I may consider spending a little less as with the 350 i'd been looking at 05/55 plate max in my budget and i've seen a few older crossfire's with low mileage go for a steal on pistonheads.

I'm based in the West Midlands if anyone knows of any that may be of interest.

Hope i've posted in the right place and not waffled too much.

Thanks Jen.

Hi Jen

That’s a good budget. I all ways go for mileage over age. Take one for a drive. You will soon forget the 350z. If you are out my way. Your welcome to have a go. She gets a new voice tomorrow. Magnaflow exhaust.
Good luck

Jon
(if I see anything, I will let you know)

Hi Jen, welcome to the forum.

with an 8K budget the world is your oyster you should pick up a low mileage 07 for that.

I'm sure members in your area will be along to offer help to find one.

That's £8,000 not €8,000. That's about $12,500. US.

A good example can be found for under £6K if you look hard, but once under £5K you can expect high miles, and signs of bodywork blemishes with rust bubbles on many around rear wheel arches and under boot lid, and under doors. Watch out for scuffed seats, scuffed sills and tired interors, chipped windscreens. Tyres must be good or you are looking at minumum £550 for a set of tyres. Try to avoid anything newer than Jan 05 as they are in a much highher road tax bracket. Also watch out for upcomingf services. Like anything, you get what you pay for, good luck in your hunt and check out www.ukcrossfires.co.uk

I was going to buy either a 350Z, a Mustang, or a Crossfire. I picked the Crossfire because it's rather unique. A 350Z is already dated by the 370. Your Crossfire will never be last year's model. Good luck with your search and stay in touch.

Thanks everyone. You've all been really encouraging. I'm ideally looking for a Black coupe if not gunmetal grey would be nice. I've found they're pretty hard to come by which is half the reason I find them so alluring as you rarely see them on the road.

Do you find as they are quite rare servicing and upkeep can be expensive?

No not at all, at the end of the day they are Merc engine and running gear, lots of Merc or patten parts available and if you have a friendly garage you can take it too you should have no problems.

Oil changes can get expensive, as it takes 8 qts. of Mobil-1 , good for 7500mi though.
And, the aforementioned tires. Otherwise reliability is generally exellent, and the cost to run is low.
Like 11 Feb said, any good repair shops familiar with Mercedes will have no problem servicing her.
(I also recommend the Coupe in Black. )

My last car was an Acura 3.2CL. I got my Crossfire coupe 2005. A really great ride. You'll love it!

Yes, there is even an 09 reg with only 20K miles for £8,500. with a good bit of haggling I would like to think you should get that down to 8K.
an 09 reg would probably be one of the last made in 2007 but not registered till 09

I hadn't spotted that thanks. I'm going to try and find one locally to have a look around this weekend which i'm sure will only confirm that it''s for me, then i'll have a look for 'the one' a little further afield.

Thanks ever so much for all your help so far. I have to say everyone of this forum is lovely. I currently have an MX-5 and joined the relevant forum and found people rarely replied to posts...this one is great!
