I say try it again, if it drives well and ticks most of the boxes, go for it. Good luck.
Re: Thinking of getting a crossfire but worried
Got myself one today, this one here:
2004 CHRYSLER Crossfire 3.2 V6
Got rid of an old scenic (work motor) that was on its very last legs at same time as purchasing which enabled me to get the xf for £3100, allys need a bit of attention at a later date, tracking needs doing as it pulls to left a bit & on the way home a bulb error light came on but all lights seem ok, it's got xenons on could that be a cause? & the airbag symbol also came on?....starting to fear I've bought a dud?....the interior is lovely & it has a nice kenwood stereo fitted, 5 service stamps the last being at main Chrysler dealership this month, 47k miles, hpi check all clear.
It drives nice (took me a bit of getting used to the auto gearbox tough) & speed was an eye opener Just a little concerned with above nigggles but for this price suppose its par for the course?

You say it has xenons on, as far as I know the XF doesnt have xenons as standard (correct me if I'm wrong) Xenons have a self leveling system every time you switch the headlights on and by law (UK) they have to have headlight washers. If you have a wheel at the side of your headlight switch to move your headlights up and down manually, you dont have xenons.
Is it an aftermarket HID kit?? Have you seen the new MOT system for 2012 regarding xenon and HID headlights?? If not read here.

To revert back to normal its just a matter of disconnecting the ballast and wiring and putting a normal bulb back in.
From Jan 2012 this will fail MOT unless its fitted as standard because you dont have headlight washers and self leveling headlights.
A lot of people are going to get caught out with these come MOT time.
It might be that you just have a brighter bulb fitted like these, which should be ok

Hi Doggboy
Well done and welcome to the world of Xfire's.
If she pulling a bit, could be tyres. May be its had one new tyre fitted which grips more than the other side. Might be tracking. Is the steering wheel straight ? Another thing it could be, with the air bag light on, check for alignment of the front wheels and body.

Re: Thinking of getting a crossfire but worried
air bags light has to be reset by the dealership. Light out could be a license plate light, most over look it since there are two. Steering damper could need replaced. Doesn't cost much, makes a big difference in handling. It will allow the car to wonder a bit. Good luck, and welcome to the club...
Re: Thinking of getting a crossfire but worried
I've just read this thread with interset as I find myself in a similar position. Although I had had many cars over the years (I used to work for dealerships) and I've owned a couple of odd cars
Heres a few examples
It took me 5 years to transfrom it from this
to this
I then bought this
and then this
I fiited a FM Turbo to this and it produced 260BHP
Anyway after then having bikes for the next 7 years (a different one every 3 months)
I then decided to get another car. Now the car to me is a toy, I have a New Avensis as my daily driver and the Mrs has a Bettle Cabriolet.
So I considered all the options and ended up buying another MX5 (2001 Sport Model) I spent loads of money personalising it and to be honest I just never gelled with it. I guess I was comparing it to my old one. So i have decided the MX5 has to go (I inly bought it in April) and like the OP I am considering a XF (Roadster).

It's a grey area but it shouldn't fail.

"High Intensity Discharge (HID) and LED dipped beam headlamps (whether original fitment or after-market) must be fitted with a headlamp washing system (a wiper is not required) and be self levelling. This may be achieved by the use of either headlamp or suspension levelling systems. However, some high performance vehicles fitted with HID headlamps that have limited luggage space and stiff suspension do not require a self-levelling system.
Where headlamp levelling or cleaning devices are missing or defective, but there is doubt as to whether they are required, the benefit of the doubt should be given and an advisory notice issued.A mandatory headlamp levelling or cleaning device missing, inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.'

would you risk it??? I hate the bloody things anyway!!!
Re: Thinking of getting a crossfire but worried
Good to know, I'll be in the market in a week or so, but I'm in no hurry as I'll wait for the right car. I do quite fancy a yellow roadster. Does anyone know if the yellow is metallic? You can't tell by the pictures
Re: Thinking of getting a crossfire but worried
Now, the red, that's another story - quite metallic.
