Hi..I was at this meeting and chatted to someone about the dashboard bulb failure indicator. I am a bit embarrassed, as I can't remember who it was.

We discussed the fact that a resistor could be placed in the dippied beam headlamp connector, to stop the dashboard bulb from illuminating. This is useful if you have a HID kit fitted and a buld is no longer connected to this circuit.

If it was you I was chatting to, do you know the wattage and impedence of the required resistor? wire-wound?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave, it was me you talked to about the resistors.

I'm sure there are some threads on here about the problem if you search deep enough but I couldn't find exact values. Also I've not got HIDs on mine but I have just doing some calculations I think you will need about 7 ohms 15 watt resistors if you are going to replicate a 55 watt bulb (assuming you have 35 watt HIDs, 55's shouldn't cause the bulb failure) That's a big resistor that will get hot though! I would try two 4R7 10 watts in series, across the the supply inputs the the HID ballasts (obviously not the high voltage feeds to the lamps themselves). This will dissipate the heat across the two resistors whilst giving a similar overall resistance. The Maplin part No. for suitable wirewound resistors is H4R7 and they are 40p each. The bulb failure system may not need quite this amount of current, so you may be able to go up a few steps in resistance. Let me know how you get on, but probably best to post it in the Technical Section rather than here.

Cheers,
Simon.

Well I'm back home and wanted to post my pictures from our UK meet. Take a look at my UK album in my gallery. https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle...y.php?cat=1101

Again, I want to thank all of our UK friends for such a warm welcome and for this small gift that I will alway cherish. I'll think of you with every cup of java.

To FP Crossfires UK. Don't be thinking about what else CUK means

Thumbs up Re: FP traveling from USA to UK

Great pics FP and really good to meet you. Glad you got home ok - we can only apologise for the dire UK weather this week...even by our standards, it's been bad!

Looking forward to catching up on your next visit.

All the best
Chris

It was great to meet you FP, hopefully your visit will spark off more international get togethers I really enjoyed your pics, it must be the first ones actually showing a UK convoy! Next time you are over we'll have to try and organise a rip around the track somewhere

Simon.

Thanks FP and all the others who captured the UK meet with pics and a video clip.
The weather looked similar to the weather we had at the Spring "Tail of the Dragon"
but as you know when ya get a bunch of members together with their Crossfires it's gonna be a good time rain or shine.

Glad ya are back FP.
