Ignition problem, read previous threads, need help asap before work tomorrow!
I hate to beat a dead horse but I am in quite a key ignition paradox. My car is trapped at work 30 miles away and the key will NOT turn to position 1. Also, because of where it is in the parking lot it cannot be towed (since the wheel cant be turned to move it somewhere else). I have removed the electronic connections to the ignition/lock assembly. The only thing attaching it to my car is the steering wheel lock. The key will not turn to position 1, and apparently if I get the assembly off my steering wheel locks FOREVER?? Is there a protocol to follow for getting the assembly off when the key will not turn. It would be tremendously helpful if someone could help me tonight so I can try and get it off tomorrow after work.
I know there are a lot of threads on this, I just cant seem to find the information I need. I see the clamp holding the two together, but what will happen when I take the clamp off with the tumblers in the assembly and the key in position 0? Will i be able to simply pull off the assembly, and if not what would I need to do? Also, will any component lock out on me if I do this? Thanks a lot for your help guys!

Yea I have looked at that over and over again, but im just unsure what to do since I cannot turn it to position 1, and it has 2 bold warnings about that.... I am wondering where to go now that every connection is off, except the steering wheel
Re: Ignition problem, read previous threads, need help asap before work tomorrow!
My suggestion is to get 4 dollies...jack up each wheel and stick one under and then push the car out of he space it's in to where it can be towed. This way you don't have to take the car out of park or turn the wheel. You can probably get them from U-Haul or a maybe Advance Auto can rent them to you.

I'll go ahead and ask the stupid question because I've seen it fix this problem at Woodward......
Have you tried turning the key while trying to turn the steering wheel from side to side and/or moving the shifter?

Have you read this thread?
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...n-key-fix.html
To summarize that thread:
Since you can't turn the key. You will have to drill out the locking pin that is on the assembly. The pin is silver and to the left of the clamp. then undo the clamp and turn the whole assembly counterclockwise and pull it out. The steering lock then should disengage after the assembly is pulled out. I would go take some pictures but it's below freezing here is Seattle at the moment.
The tumbler prevents you from simply pressing the locking pin. Since you will drill out the pin, You do not need to put the key in the tumbler.
Any other questions?
