Re: How to Repair Relay Control Module (RCM) - (Mystery no Start)

It's the traction control relay. If the car is moving with the traction control not completely powered up, the BCM goes nuts and deploys the spoiler.

thank you sir. will work on it.
thanks again
Mystery no start - you know whats coming
Thought I would add my recent experience to the body of knowledge ...
Had 2 failures recently:
Failure 1 - Took the xfire on an errand, it had been sitting for a few weeks so needed to juice up the battery, anyway when trying to return home after a stop the ignition came on like normal, dash lit up, but when I turned the key to start nothing happened. The starter did not even try to engage, not even a click, just silence. Not typical of a low battery. Thought I would try the computer reset trick, so I walked home picked up a test lead, walked back and disconnected the + battery cable then connected it to the negative cable using the test lead. Left if for about 30 secs and after reconnecting the + cable it started as normal. Hurray.
My feeling was that the battery still needed more charge so when I got home I removed the battery and took it up to my unit (I'm in a apt condo building, no electricity in the garage) and hooked it up to a charger.
Failure 2 - Next day put the battery back in, tried to fire it up and there was nothing, this time the dash didn't even light up. Completely dead. I was aware of the RCM vulnerability so I pulled it out and examined the suspect solder joints and they looked perfect, even with a magnifying glass. I know that solder joints can fail without it being visible so I re-soldered them and that solved the issue. She is back in the land of the living.
The 2 failures were similar but not exactly the same, but I don't trust coincidences, so have to believe that both failures were actually caused by the RCM issue.
For those not aware of the RCM fix, here is the link: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-no-start.html
Cheers,
bob

Re: How to Repair Relay Control Module (RCM) - (Mystery no Start)
Or send your RCM to me!
Usually it's the coils that go bad. If the 3 middle relays are noticeably darker than the outer 2 relays, good chance the coils are going bad or are already bad.
I can replace the relays.
Email me tighed1@hotmail.com for details.

Re: How to Repair Relay Control Module (RCM) - (Mystery no Start)
Could use some advice or direction...
My 2007 Roadster is exhibiting what appears to be the "Mystery No Start".
It not only wont Crank with all Electronics visible, but sometimes will just die while running, then wont crank.
Let it sit a while, and it will usually start right up.
Yanked the RCM as recommended, solder joints looked okay, but reheated and soldered anyway.
Problem is still present, making it real depressing to enjoy a ride without getting stuck...!!!
""" What I noticed is was when the "No Crank" issue shows itself, if the key is left in the On Position, the Radiator Fan turns at Full Speed..."""
Might this be an indication of something else being the issue, rather than the Mystery No Start...???
Could it be one of the Relays on the RCM...???
I'm kinda stumped at this point and could use some advice and ideas...
As always, Thanx in advance for any help-...

.
Sure, it COULD be something else (like a bad ECM or corroded terminal in a connector between the RCM and ECM) but it is most likely an issue on the RCM itself.

Re: How to Repair Relay Control Module (RCM) - (Mystery no Start)
Just wanted to send a quick Thanx to DJ Tighe.
Shipped my bad RCM to DJ via Priority Mail and he Refurbished the Unit, and turned it around within a few hours.
He re-soldered joints, and found the Fuel, Traction, and Air Pump needed replacing.
SO far, so good, my xFire is back on the road and performing okay with no shutdowns, and no crank issues...
Thanx again to DJ...
