p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
So do you think those chewed up wires causing the MAP sensor not to function may be the reason why i failed emissions inspection and triggered P0410 code?

Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I was thinking the same thing.
BUT WAIT !!!
This is not going to be easy to do, as I have to admit that I am ALL WRONG !
The picture's above is of a :
MERCEDES W204 W220 W251 W211 W215 W906 BOOST PRESSURE MAP SENSOR A0051535028
So, there is indeed a MAP sensor. Whooda knew ?
( I coulda swore the chewed wires were to the Camshaft Sensor -
I caught my self that time 180 - you don't have to correct me )

Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I stared at this light for months on end after finding out what it was. I finally disconnected it from the car took the little pump over to the air compressor and shot air through both ends of it. 4 months later still no CEL (knock on wood). Thought I would share since many people are having issues, just something to try!
Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
thanks guys
have a 2004 with 100000 miles , runs great but had the light issue always on
checked the code and and found out it was related to the injector pump
checked the valve - good, pump runs as needed
took apart the relay box and contact was burnt and also solder cracked
re-solder cleaned contacts and have not had a issue yet
thanks again

You identify it by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then remove the RCM, then the RCM plastic cover. It will be the one with the black contacts. ( The RCM is the one in the plastic box by the battery that is closest to the engine with all the fuses on top )
Don't worry about mixing up the connectors, they are all unique.
Cleaning the contacts is a temporary solution, you should send it to tighed1 ( D.J. ) and have him replace the relay.
Cost you about $20. ( send him a PM )

Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I pried the module open with some small screwdrivers to get the circuit board out. Once you pull it out of the casing you will see five (if i remember correctly) relays soldered to the board. All I did was re-solder the contacts on the relays and then put everything back together.
Be careful prying the box open. You don't want to damage the circuit board. If you're not comfortable doing all this yourself get tighed1 to do it. Its worth the $20 instead of the $200+ you'll spend on a new relay control module.
Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I had the same issue - P0410 kept creeping up on my dashboard and I was finally tired of the orange on my dashboard so looked into it. Seemed like connectors and secondary air system seemed fine so everything pointed to the control relay.
I finally got around to finding a computer repair show and asked the gentleman if he could solder the broken joints (which really looked bad and sooner or later would have resulted in the mystery no start) and he did that within minutes for only $20. He looked at all the joints but everything was fine except for the little row on the lower right hand side as shown in the "Mystery no start" sticky.
So, went home and plugged the relay back into my car and was excited to see the Check Engine light disappear! No more orange for this guy
Thanks to this forum this problem was fixed quick and easy!

Re: p0410 secondary air injection system malfunction solution?
I am not trying to disagree with you but I just had the RCM fixed and before I always had the check engine light on the dashboard. As soon as the fixed board was plugged in the P0410 went away when I started the car and has not come back ever since. Also, I can hear the secondary air pump running now which has not happened before.
Not sure why that is the case but I would think it is connected to the fixed joints???

I am still so surprised that after the solder fix the Check engine light went right away and has not come back so far. Maybe just taking it out and putting it back in cause the relay on the back to fix itself (I'm joking of course).

I have looked all over the forum but can't seem to find a thread on THAT fix. Can you provide a link please?
