Default Dash Lights - Telescoping Steering Wheel Indicator.

Noticed that my telescoping Steering Wheel indicator light is no longer illuminating when I unlock the wheel. The light does come on when starting the car (all dash lights at start).

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what was the cause.

I am terrified to take the car to the dealer for this, but also don't want to let it go.

Thanks for any input.

Thanks Andrew. Never seen such. Do you think it's on US XF only? What is this light for? To indicate that the wheel is unlocked for pulling?

the light is for safety concerns... apparently attorney's felt it was necessary incase one would blame chrysler for an accident due to a free moving steering column... when in the unlock position. silly... but that's why we call them idiot lights.

You named it! LOL.
We definitely don't have it or mine is cracked.
The US XF are equipped with a few of such additional safety things. Although the speed limit is 65 mph max.
- larger airbag
- tire pressure indicator
- seatbelt ding-ding
- airbag off button
...
- and what I saw at Karmann: XF for US with 4 season tires only.

Strange world ...

So does anyone know what might cause this like to quit activating when the steering wheel is released to telescope in and out?

Yes sorry for OT.
Actually there's not much around the indicator. Only one switch, a bulb and wiring. And as you said that the light is on while turning the key - it's not the bulb or the instrument cluster.
So most probably the telescopic steering switch is not working.

I would bring it to the mech.

Good luck.

Good for you to check on the power steering fluid level, but that light has nothing to do with the power steering fluid. That light tells you that you pulled the release lever for the steering wheel, so that you could either push it in or pull it out.

Is you light on, or not coming on, like this thread is about?

If it is on all the time, try pulling and pushing the release lever to see if it turns off.

BC.

After Pulling The Release Handle Under Steering to Adjust Steering Wheel Push hand In To Lock And Confirm Position and light goes out.
