Question Reputable Chrysler dealer in San Diego, CA

I need to take my SRT-6 in for a transmission stutter. Has anyone had any experience/contacts to a decent Chrysler dealer in San Diego, CA? Also I read somewhere that some dealers have Crossfire trained mechanics. Is this true? Thanks in Advance.

As a new XFire owner, and reading many horror posts on Chrysler service, has there been a previous thread listing recommended Chrysler Service Dealers throughout the country. Specifically, I'm in sunny Rochester, NY and would like to know if any members utilize local dealers for service. Thanks.

I'm in San Diego...

Don't go to Carl Burger...they'll roll their eyes at you and they have given me poor service in the past.

Last stop they broke my cupholder and they have never put the correct amount of oil in my car.

IRAFATSAR has better experience with them, but I am not convinced of their merit.

Thanks for your confirmation about Carl Burger! I thought my dash display for my oil level wasn't working so I took it in there. The service writer literally said, "Oh no, not a Crossfire!" I thought to myself, here we go. To make a long story short I just asked for my car back.

I was thinking about Kerney Mesa Dodge/Chrysler. I will let you know how my experience with them goes.

I actually bought my car there (Carl Burger) and all went well except for their finance department. They are the rudest people out there. I cannot stress it enough to avoid going through their finance department.

"Oh no, not another Crossfire!" That's what they had literally said to me too.

Also, their finance department tried to rip me off when I switched my extended warranty from a previous owner. They tried to charge me $600 for the warranty when it was already paid for. Did you go into the office where the guy has all the motorcycle pictures? He is the one who tried to pull a fast one on me.

Let me know how Kearney is.

I've been having fun with their finance department as well. Still haven't received my plates yet but I did receive my stickers/Registration from the DMV!? Strange. The finance guy I worked with was Juan, I didn't notice any motorcycle pics in his office. At least your finance guy noted that your car already had an extended warranty. I didn't know mine had one (which would need to be transferred) until the service writer told me! They actually tried selling me one at the time of purchase! I ended up buying one through my Credit Union. That is some shady business going on there.

I did receive some good news last night, apparently my payoff on my truck was less so I get grand back from Carl Burger.

Carl Burger Sucks AZZ...I live right around the corner from them and when I took my Magnum in because it went into limp mode, they told me my Aftermarket stereo was causing my transmission problems (they documented on there diagnosis report also, them dumb azzes). So I took it to John Hine and they found out that I had a broken valve spring in my transmission and mind you I only had 1,000 miles on the SRT, they replaced the transmission and all is good...

Also there is Rancho Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge off of balboa...go in and ask for Mike Lewis (he's a Service writer and an SRT owner). They also have a few mechanics and techies there who are also SRT owners that come hang out with us on a regular basis.

So my recommendations are as follows:

Rancho Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler off of Balboa (Ask for Mike lewis in the Service Department tell him Moe sent you)

Can't recommend John Hine because they are only a Jeep, Dodge dealership...

FF2MOE, what color is your Crossfire? Maybe I have seen you around? I am in Alpine, but I am around the East County a lot.

brhertel,

Unfortunately I am tooo tall for a crossfire, I have the Magnum SRT8, but you might have seen it around...but if not, if you see a Black Magnum SRT8 with Firefighter license plates and It says hotwheels on the rear windows, it is I...

I almost drove the SRT6 at the Cornado SRT Speed festival Last year, but I couldn't get my 6'3 230 lb frame into it comfortably for my liking...

Msheredy,

I wanted to have the only SRT-6 in San Diego! Damn you! I live by Mission Trails Park and have seen a number of NA Crossfires but not another SRT.

And I agree with FF2MOE about Rancho Chrysler on Balboa. I bought my car from them and have had excellent service from Mike Lewis and the service department. Mike and the service department are competent and you'll have no difficulties with them.

I like this sudden influx of San Diego Crossfires.

(Especially East County).

Thanks bunch guys! That is the news that I wanted to hear BIG TIME!.

Hey Brent, your comment got a good laugh out of me this morning! What color is your SRT-6? Thanks for confirming your experience as well. I know what you mean about the rarity of the SRT-6's here in San Diego. I did notice, however, McCune has 2 Black SRT-6's in their used lots [they have 2 used car lots] so there might soon be 2 more roaming the streets soon? Thanks again guys!

That's pretty crazy, I'm here in Tierrasanta.

Hi Msheredy,

My car is Aero Blue - the only proper color for an SRT (time to duck and cover!). I seriously considered a regular Crossfire in red because I really, really like the color but ultimately decided that the performance of the SRT was more important to me. Occasionally I amuse myself with thoughts of getting a red convertible and if my bank robbing career takes off, I'll do so.

Tierrasanta is literally across the street from me since I live on the south side of Misssion Gorge. I drive back and forth on Mission Gorge all the time and yet the only Crossfire I've seen with any regularity is a gray one which is almost always going in the opposite direction. Don't think it's a SRT though.

Were you in Tierrasanta during the 2003 fire? Friend of mine lives there and he had to evacuate. So did I, but only for one night.

Oh, and before I forget, what color is yours?

We should get a San Diego meet together one of these days. Irafatsar and I talked about doing a Julian run.

I was all over the county in October 2003. I had fought that Firestorm when I was working for the Fire Department...

If you don't mind a few SRT8's tagging along...I can set up something in no time...

Here's one I set up in Coronado on a weeks notice.

Met up in mission valley for the caravan through San Diego to Coronado.

I've seen that one as well. I believe that they are located in Tierrasanta as well.

Fortunately my girlfriend and I were residing in the UTC area while all that crap was happening. I still remember all that destruction that those fires caused.

Black Althought I've been tossing around the idea of putting some subtle graphics on it.

That sounds like a good time! The SD-SRTs.

I'm game for a meet, just can't do it this Sat. If we're having Crossfires and SRT-8s, then we should make it a Mopar Meet. Maybe I can get my friend with a '74 Dodge Dart to show up. His car isn't pretty but who cares! It's a Dart!

FF2MOE,

Excellent job with the fire fighting. You guys (and gals) kept it from becoming an utter catastrophe. I'm in a townhouse complex and at that time our association president, who is a fire fighter and had a home in my complex, was on the Scripps fire when he heard that the complex was being evacuated. Horrible feeling to be saving someone's home while thinking that your own could be burning down. We were lucky - the fire came within a few hundred yards but the winds died down and so did the flames.

Please let us know what you have in mind for a meet.

Msheredy,

A black SRT. Black cars look so sharp but are too much work for me to keep clean. Black can even make a Magnum look good.

We really should move this post to the regional section.

Brent
