Crossfire coolant light on and AC not working properly
Crossfire coolant light on and AC not working properly
2004 crossfire 45k miles. This light keeps turning off in on in my car, supposedly it means coolant level low. Only issue is, my coolant is not low at all and I actually topped it off to try and get rid of this light. No luck at all. The AC keeps cutting in and out whenever the light is on. I took it to a mechanic this morning and they said they “checked everything and they can’t find a issue” thank the lord they didn’t try to charge me. I’m just wondering if anyone else on here has this issue
thank you in advance for the help!
Re: Crossfire coolant light on and AC not working properly
This through me for a loop once also, I thought the light was indicating low collant when the light only indiciates a problem with the cooling system. It turned out to be the fan would sometimes stall out, which would also prevent the air conditioning evaporator from getting airflow making the air conditionning luke warm. I recomend checking your radiator fan to see if it is spinning.

Re: Crossfire coolant light on and AC not working properly
That is not a low coolant light. That is a general cooling system alarm light.
IT comes on:
If coolant is low.
If coolant level sensor is bad.
If engine fan motor is bad.
If fan control module is bad.
MOST of the time, when it comes on, the A/C is disabled to reduce load on the engine and cooling system as a precaution to prevent overheating the engine. If your fan motor/controller are acting up, the light comes on and the A/C may cut out.
The most common cause is a bad coolant level sensor in the tank but we are seeing more and more Fan Control Modules fail as our cars age. IF you want a new one, the one from the Mercedes SLK320 (2003) fits. Ordering a Crossfire part usually results in "No longer available".
