no start issue
no start issue
My Grandsons Crossfire, he is in another state at college, wouldn't start yesterday. It does not crank. Everything else seems to work. Tried a new battery, no change, replaced the RCM, no change. Have not yet replaced the CPS because they don't usually just die, do they? My only other thoughts are the starter or security system. As usual none of the european shops want to work on it. Any suggestions? He is in Tuscon.

Re: no start issue
IF the starter does not engage it is:
RCM
Clutch interlock switch
Pulse module
Bad starter (it's never a bad starter)
One thing you can do, yank the pulse module, pry the cover off, press on the starter relay - if the starter does not engage, the starter itself is bad. PERIOD.
Be careful, pressing that relay bypasses EVERYTHING. The starter will engage even with key off if you press on that relay.

Re: no start issue
Now,
Unseat the tabs marked with yellow arrows. Pull off the inner 'lid'.
At the left side of the box, pry between the fuse carrier and the front of the box and lift the fuse carrier out, left (front) end first.
(This carrier is what all those fuses are seated in, LOTS of wires underneath, only pull it up as far as you need to, to clear the pulse module.)
The Pulse Module is about where the red box is, part of it hides under the fuse carrier, so ya gotta yank the carrier out.
Pry the cover off the module....
There will be two relays. One switches power to the SRT circulation pump. The other is the starter relay - your car will have both even if it is not an SRT.
I cant remember which is which, but when you move the right one, the starter WILL engage.

Re: no start issue
I'm having similar issue with my 05 rdstr. Issue happens sporatically. Everything works, but no starter response with key in start position. Tried it many times, then (45mins of attempts), finally engages and starts. Same day, she died at stoplight, put in neutral, and it engaged and started. Called Chrysler dealer service dept. described issue, they said "bad ignition switch". Not buying that. Suggestions?
