Limp mode / misfire help
Limp mode / misfire help
Hello,
I've Had my SRT6 for the past 4 months or so and started getting this problem recently. Every once in a while the check engine light would come on, and sometimes in those instances, the car would feel like it goes into limp mode. The car doesn't go above 1000 RPM, it shakes, almost like there is a misfire. Usually turning off the car waiting a sec and turning it back on fixes the problem and I'm on my way.
UPDATE: The only code read so far is a P0410. The check engine light went away however the same problem still persists.

Re: Limp mode / misfire help
You can use the search box in the upper right corner of this forum to search for limp mode, hesitates and shacking, misfire etc and find many different possibilities. When the check engine light goes on it will set a code; read the code and start your investigation based on the code or codes. Vacuum leaks are often a cause of your symptoms, or the throttle body.
GET THE NUMBERED CODE; not just some wordy explanation as to what the code means. We need the exact numbered code or codes.

Thanks

I had that happen on the top cat, passenger side. The innards crumbled and plugged the exhaust. Limp mode, shaking

You are really ignoring the obvious here, a check engine light means a code is set. That means the ECU sees something significant.
To post anywhere asking what is going on without telling us what the code or codes are, is wasting your time and ours. All you are getting is guesses.
Get the codes read and come back and give them to us - things SHOULD move along a lot faster that way.
More on the Codes;
It is entirely possible, you will have a P0410 and nothing else - the P0410 means nothing here and for the purposes of this discussion, can be ignored.
This brings us to the next item: If you have no meaningful code, (and the CEL is for an 0410 or similar), that means the issue with the car is not setting any code - even THAT tells us something. It tells us that the failure is not of a nature the ECU can discern, which sends us to look at items outside the ECU's direct vision.
Reading the code(s) will get us started.

Re: Limp mode / misfire help
Also, there are some CHEAP options for getting codes read. Your local parts store is one, but there are kinda cool 'dongles' you can buy online that transmit via bluetooth to your phone - not the best, but they do read simple codes, which right now, is all you need.
Is $17 cheap enough?
