Traction control!!! Truly shut it off
Re: Traction control!!! Truly shut it off

It should be safe to do. It will enable the amber warning light on the instrument panel which could get annoying. But without actually testing it there is no way to know for sure that the base braking system would still work.
Anyone willing to test this can simply pull the #3 fuse ENGINE BLOCK FUSE BOX. I am not sure yet what other items this controls. I will see what else I can find on this fuse.
Re-flashing the ECM might work but will the re-flashing of the ECM take care of the programming in the CAB?

I disconnected the #3 fuse by removing the 8mm nut and setting the wire off to the side opening in the case to the far left(drivers side) which was vacant and just tightened the nut back on the fuse. After driving the car for about 3 miles it was great............NO traction control interferance...........then I hit the freeway and BAM it went into limp mode. I had to pull over and reconnect the wire and everything has worked like it's supposed to since. I hate having to push that damn little button every time I start the car. I have the ESP/BAS completely disabled in my Charger which gives me full control over it and it's never gone into limp mode.
Re: Traction control!!! Truly shut it off
so i wonder if you could disconnect the number 3 fuse at the track and run without traction control of before racing someone if wanted or before a dyno run, because you say it was ok for a little while?, or did it go into limp mode once you got to a certain speed or something.
Re: Traction control!!! Truly shut it off
Take a look at this thread. I used relay's and in line fuse holders that are controlled by a remote control key fob with on & off button's. This circuit just basiclly turns off the TC & ESC,(stability control). No problem with limp mode or anything, just click the fob and it's off, click it again and it's on.

But when I put 17 back in the brake lights worked and the TC/ESP seemed to remain off.
Is it possible you ONLY need to remove fuse #18?

HDDP,
I saw in another thread where you took you car in and using a scan tool had the TC and ESP turned completely off, correct? When you did that, you lost your ABS, but did not have the limp mode or limiter kick in either and you have brake lights, right?
I just wanted to double check with you as you are the only one that I know of that has gone this route to eliminate the damn nannies from the car... For me I would gladly give up ABS to no longer have the TC and ESP lurking in the background. It can't be too difficult to pull the lights from the dash to get rid of that bright yellow warning staring you in the face.
I know...ABS and TC and ESP are great safty featurs, but I have been driving cars without one or all of those features for years. I can do without again, plus I like going sideways from time to time (my choice, not mother natures! )
Thanks again HDDP and good luck with the move to SC. Oh yea, what part of SC are you moving too?
Cheers,
KrzyFast
