Manual Rear-View Mirror
Manual Rear-View Mirror
Hi guys...just bought my 2004 Coupe on Friday here in sunny South Africa!
So far absolutely love the car. Great forum by the way.
Have one question though, my rear view mirror is not like the one I have seen on other crossfires here. It doesn't have the light sensor etc. only the little flip switch like on normal rear-view mirrors (ie. it doesn't get darker).
The dealer told me that some of the cars they got didn't have the auto-dimming one...sounds odd to me.
Mine was a demo September 2004 model.
Does anybody else not have the elecro-chromatic mirror?
Thanks.

Re: Manual Rear-View Mirror
There's a model called Black Beauty or Black Line or ... (depends on country). It's a black coupe. This car is cheaper as the regular one but also has less gadgets. Like no front fog lights, not chromed exhaust tail, no possibility to heat **** etc. But I don't know how about the mirror. Maybe it comes with a manual one. And if you don't have a Black Beauty but a manual mirror go and insist on a real one.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Manual Rear-View Mirror
What is your build number (the last five digits of your VIN)? It's possible that if you have a very late build 2004 they might have already switched over to the manual mirror at the factory. Also, since they were building 2005 roadsters while they were still building the last of the 2004 coupes, it's possible someone on the line grabbed the wrong mirror.

According to the Chrysler website, that VIN corresponds to an '05. Is the tenth digit a 4 or a 5?

Re: Manual Rear-View Mirror
Not sure...dropped the car off at the dealer this morning, had some issues this week, appear to be leaking gearbox fluid and had some other issues. Should all be resolved by tomorrow (or so they say) Crossfires here come with a 3 year/60 000km Maintenance plan which covers all problems and services etc. excluding brake pads so I want them to sort out all the issues I have.
I will check the VIN number again as soon as I have the car back.
Thanks for the help so far!

Got my car back...all the things I required to be repaired were done...they tightened the gearbox gasket too tight and it cracked, replaced. My VIN number is a 5...I know, I just went to Chrysler's site and also saw that it refers to a 2005 model. Pretty sure mine isn't...Manufacture date is August 2005.
Re: Manual Rear-View Mirror
I'm not sure when the production change over occurred between '04 and '05, but there were a lot of '05 cars built in '04, as well as a lot of '04 cars built in '03. If your car was in the US it would be considered an '05. Perhaps in South Africa the car is labeled by build year instead of the manufacturer's model year.

But how about your new mirror. Are they gonna give you an auto dim?
