To SKREEM or not to SKREEM? That is the question!
To SKREEM or not to SKREEM? That is the question!
I have an '04 Coupe---low low miles. I recently started driving it as my daily driver. My question is, should I get a SKREEM module just in case? How often do these things go bad? Is it a matter of when and not if? Thoughts?
Re: To SKREEM or not to SKREEM? That is the question!
I bought an SRT in Sept 2017. The Skreem had been replaced in Aug. 2017 (I saw the receipt and had bought from a trustworthy forum member, so I'm confident the work was done). I had to replace the Skreem in Nov 2017. I'm guessing that was an aberration. Chrysler is sometimes backed up in producing them. I ordered one for my NA at the same time to have it in case. I just ordered a backup Skreem for my SRT. Having owned Crossfires less than 2 years, I can't honestly comment on "matter of when and not if". I just know I want to be prepared "in case". Daily driver? I'd buy a backup in a heart beat, assuming it wouldn't take food off the table.
Re: To SKREEM or not to SKREEM? That is the question!
We have some smart people here so why is it not possible to find and replace the part that is broken inside the SKREEM module in some cases as I am sure that at times a 10 cent part is at fault.
I found the 10 cent part that had failed in my power seat relay and fixed that, but that is about as far as my knowledge goes. If my SKREEM failed I would buy a new one and look into fixing the old one to the best of my knowledge.
Come on Pizzaman this could be a golden opportunity for you.
There are companies that advertise the repair of these modules.

Very true! We'll need it if they totally discontinue manufacturing Skreems.

I took my old one apart today and OH MY !! I never seen a circuit board with so many chips and other units on it. Good luck to the genius that figures it out. In the mean time I'm going to buy another!
