Default Multifunction switch part numbers

Hi, I seem to have a problem with my turnsignal/wiper mult-ifunction switch. I have already had it replaced with a second hand one from a breaker but the turn signals - indicators as we say in uk, are playing up again.

I have looked through the forum and found these part numbers for the multi function switch
Merc 1170 540 0344
Chrysler 05098519AA

My question is are these part numbers the same in the UK? All the threads on here I have found are from you guys in America, so before I go looking for a new switch I just wanted to confirm the part numbers.

Thanks in advance

The part number is on the switch, if you still have the old one it would be easy to see.
Describe your problem, maybe it is not the switch.
If the switch is on the left hand side of the steering wheel I would say it is the same part.
You have an extra digit in the first numbers of the part number it should say 170 I think.

I've not taken it out yet so cant see any numbers on it.

The problem is the turn signals stop working. I can turn on the headlights, pass to flash function, wipers all work off the stalk and the four way flashers also still work so I know it's not bulbs. On previous occasions I have messed with the fuses behind the headlight module/switch and then they worked again, (not sure this is just coincidence) But the last time they were off for a whole day.
When they start working again they will work for about a week then they will stop again!
I have already had the stalk replaced with one from a breaker and had no trouble for 2 months but then it's started again. I wasn't sure if it was something to do with the headlight switch module or the stalk again?

What do you mean by messing with fuses?
Fuse 4 is for the turn signal bulbs and the back up lights, do your back up lights work?
Maybe the fuse is faulty. I assume you have the same fuse positions as us over the pond. Check the chart on the switch fuse panel.

I just take the fuses out and put them back in and that seemed to clear it in the past. Yes my back up lights work. I have replaced the headlight switch today to see if it was a fault in there? I will see how it does and if it comes back I will order a new Stalk.

There was a case some years back when the clips that held a fuse in the light switch, known officially as the Illumination Control Module (ICM) was bent and did not hold the fuse too snugly, one was bent back.

Do not confuse the Illumination Control Module with the NASA Lunar Landing Module, although if you buy the ICM from a dealer you may well think you are buying a LLM.
