I must apologize, I have scanned through all the service manual information and cannot find exactly what drives the speedometer, or the cruise control.
I can find all the wheel speed sensors, but they all seem to feed just the ABS module.
Also, the automatic transmission has 2 speed sensors in it, but they just seem to feed the TCM.
I guess it is entirely possible that either or both of these put messages on the CAN bus that the PTCM reads to determine the current vehicle speed, and thus control the speedo and cruise, but I can't find anywhere that it is stated.
Bottom line : I ain't got a clue.
( In my business, this issue would need to be escalated to level 2 or level 3 people for an answer, but unfortunately we have NO L2/L3 people, unless someone wants to chime in )

Ala_xfire, you are right about the two speed sensors they are called n1 and n2 input output speed sensors and they do provide information to the can bus Which supplies information to all the other components, I checked it out on a forum called lxforums.com. type in nag 1 five speed automatic transmission Refresher.

Ok that's interesting to know David, thanks for the feedback.

Do you think It can have a role on both a cruiser control and spoiler issue ?

I would think so as they are both speed related.

Yes that's a good idea to check that.

Do you have any idea of where I can find it ? And how I can check it ?

Thanks a lot,

Mathieu

Okay here's a question since the TCM monitors all electrical functions of the transmission and some hydraulic if there were a problem with the internal speed sensors would it not register a trouble code?

So a drb2 may not access the TCM codes?

Hi !
I used an OBDII to read the error code but there is nothing found with that. I have no warning light on the dash board. So as written previously, do you think an OBDIII can read an error code due to a bad speed sensor, even if there is no warning lights ?
And do you have any recommendation for this kind of device ?

Thanks

The DRBIII "with" a Crossfire card is designed for complete diagnostic testing of all electronic components of the car. The only "issue" is the price of one. So basically leaves you going to the dealer to read the system. They can tell you what it shows, and you could then replace components yourself.. and hope there were no errors in the diagnostics.. (which is why sometimes parts get thrown at cars till it's fixed)..

I just helped a facebook member score the multiplexer cable off Ebay.. he now has the complete setup.

Right around $800 for just the cable..

He just reset his Tire Pressure Monitoring System.. and has offered to help others.. Not charging - but donations accepted..
