Spoiler activation and interior light issue
Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
Did we ever get an answer on whether this was immediately after battery was installed?
Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
He stated immediately after battery changed
Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
hi Mrmiata, yes is the answer to the battery question,as soon as battery was fitted, started car, spoiler up,abs/esp,brake pad warning light all on.anyway man at bosch said car couldnt communicate with computer, even though i told him to look under mercedes W170,3.2.i ordered a computer that was downloaded with delphi software, sat iin car with it,crossfire just comes up with engine tests, mercedes w220 3.2 started commnuicating, showed three fault codes,i shall list tomrrow.cleared fault codes relating to esp, wheel speed sensor erratic and abs speed ring.cleared faults.happy days everthing back to normal.as for the person who said was battery on right way, what can i say,you must be clever.i have been in motor trade 30yrs,and 10yrs with my own garage and i have never come up against like this before.if dealers and garages showed respect and care and took pride in knowing they had helped a valuable customer none of this crap would happen.thanks to all sensible members help and advice, shall post fault codes tomorrow.dave.

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
If he had sensors fitted, were they fitted in an attempt to correct the problem or done at the same time as the battery was replaced. The post is a bit ambiguous.
Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
He said he had wheel sensors fitted, and did not have a brake wear indicator. I would normally say his problem is a speed sensor problem like I noted in another post the other day.

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
Hi guys,
So to come back to my issue, here is a small update.
I noticed that 2 mornings in a row when taking my crossfire to go to work, my radio is working but I can't control it. That's means that the radio screen is not displaying, I can't change the sound and switch off the radio.
As well, the speed regulation is not working (or I don't know how to set up this bit I don't think so).
So as my battery is knew and all my issues are electrical (spoiler down + cargo light off), the more logical should be that it is coming from the alternator. Are you agree with that ?
Is there a way to diagnostic if the alternator is OK ?
Thanks,
Mathieu

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
I just tested it. So turning on the engine and with just the radio the voltage is about 14.6 V and adding the heater it's about 14.3 V
So that is not to low.
I have seen that it is possible to have a free electrical testing in advance auto part. Do you guys have any experience with that ?

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
Hi,
I had the time to look at my crossfire this weekend and solved some components :
- I followed the post #7 and now the cigarette lighter socket is working.
- I followed the post #14 and disconnected a couple of minutes the negative plug on the battery, it seems to have made a reset of the radio and seems to work better now.
- My dome interior light could not work before since it had no bulbs in it ! (I know it's stupid but I didn't took the time to look at that before =) )
Then I still have something wrong with my speed regulator or I don't know how to set it. Is there something special to do to activate it ? (I have a 2005).
And my spoiler still can't deploy. Any of you have a procedure to follow to see what's wrong in the system of the spoiler ?
Thanks a lot,
Mathieu

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
On the cruise control :
UP to set speed ( or accellerate )( must be > 35 MPH )
AWAY to turn off
DOWN to decrease set speed
TOWARDS YOU to resume previously set speed
If it still don't work, then there is a problem with the wheel speed sensors or the PTCM
Spoiler problem is most likely the same issue you have with the cruise control.
Is your speedometer by any chance acting strange too ?

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
Yes you're right both could be linked.
No the speedometer has a normal behavior.
Do you think a bad wheel speed sensor could lead to the blinking light on the spoiler switch too ? What I mean is that if there is something wrong with the sensor that could be logical that the spoiler doesn't work automatically but could work manually using the switch.

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
I am just confused about something, do you think it could come from the wheel speed sensors which are linked to the ABS or is it a speed sensor linked to the speedometer ?
Because I believe the cruise control may work with a single speed value as for the speedometer. But I don't know exactly how it works with the crossfire.

Re: Spoiler activation and interior light issue
The service manual refers to an "on or off" for the cruise control, I "think" you would turn the end of the stalk for this.
Mine is a 2005, but it does not have an "on or off" switch, maybe yours does ?
Anybody ?
And kingdavid54 could be right about the spoiler limit switch being flakey ......
