Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
I went to the Chrysler garage to see if they could see what the problem is on my Crossfire. The ESP/BAS light is on so they tried to find out the problem and have no idea what the problem is. They have no way to check it out. They said it might be the computer but not sure. I want to leave Thursday for N.C. I have tried everything I can think of to solve the problem. I guess I got the only Crossfire in the area.
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
They said they could not find the tool to scan the Crossfire. If they find it they will call me. Last month the battery went dead like something was on. I charge the battery and its fine but never did find what cause the battery to go dead. That could have started the problem with the BAS/ESP light to come on? The car runs great but the brake peddle in mushy. When I start the car I half to drive a couple of miles for the ESP/BAS light to come on. I have check the brake fluid, brakes pads, they are like new, Tire pressure and made sure the correct size tires. Turn the steering wheel all the way left then right then back to center. Will it hurt to drive the car???

Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
T have turn the steering wheel left and right then back to center a doz. times. Down at the Chrysler garage they did that several times also. That the first Crossfire they have in for a long time. They were lost on what to do. They could not find the computer to check the system. Its different from other Chrysler products. I am leaving Thursday for the Tour in North Carolina. Hope the Crossfire holds up?
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Today I went for a test run to see if any change and after driving 5 miles the BAS/ESP light DID NOT come on. I drove 5 miles back home and still the light did not come on. What a surprise but keep your fingers cross. I will be leaving Thursday for North Carolina for the Crossfire tour. That will be a good test.
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Really not sure bur will tell you what I have done. The trouble started when I left the interior light on and the battery went dead. I charge the battery back up full charge then the trouble started BAS/ESP light would come on while driving. But when I turn off the switch then restarted the light would be off until I drive a couple of miles. I got on the internet the Crossfire forum for help. The brake peddle was mushy also. I check the air pressure in all the tires, Check the brake fluid level and toped off with dot 4, I then turn the steering wheel left all the way then right all the way then back to center several times. Still had the problem. I always turn the steering wheel with the BAS/ESP light on. I read the owner's manual several times. Here the last thing I did? The engine was off then I started the engine the BAS/ESP light was off then I turn the steering wheel all the way left, then all the way right then back to center. I went for a short trip to gas up for the trip Thursday and the light never came on. So today I went for a test run 5 miles and the light never came on. Maybe I did not go far enough, I don't know for sure. I will know for sure on the tour in North Carolina. WE drive about 4 to 6 hours the book says. I am trailering the Crossfire down to N.C. I still don't trust the Crossfire as yet.
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Will find out Friday in N. C. I am using the enclose car trailer to haul the Crossfire down to N.C. If I have trouble I will put the Crossfire in the trailer and drive the truck on tour. Then if someone else has trouble I can help if needed. I have been on several tours Model T Tours, Model A tours, Glidden tours with the AACA about 10 of them all over the USA. Drove a Model T on a 1800 mile tour no trouble. I am always ready to go on tour. Here a few of my Junkers as Dad use to call them
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Today I will load the Crossfire in the trailer for the trip to N.C. They are calling for rain tomorrow is the forecast. I have a 2006 Dodge Diesel truck to pull the car trailer. Really there not enough room in the trunk for our suitcases. When the wife packs she bring enough for a month or two. I do look forward going down to N.C. I was in the Army and with the SF in North Carolina. Fort Bragg was my home back in the 60&61&62. Here a picture of me and a couple of buddies I met in N.C. a couple of years ago. I wanted to cover the Crossfire with this quilt I had made but wife said no. That our Red Crossfire that the wife call it a toy. She think I should get rid of some of my toys. She don't know it that she a toy!
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Well finally got light to turn off. I bought cheap rf wheel sensor on Ebay for $15 MISTAKE since I wasn't sure that was the fix. It caused code reader to throw about 10 codes not related to problem. When pulled it out you could see it was touching hub. So found an original used one and put that in. Light still on ,code reader still had code C1210 but this time said [Fault indictor light on. test drive.] So drove it a couple times no change so decided to check fuses, I pulled numbers 17 and 18 waited couple minutes put them back in and now light is finally off.
Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Hi
I had this problem (BAS/ESP light coming on) for a while and regularly re-centred my steering to get rid of it. I put it down to me possibly damaging one of my wheel sensors when I last changed my brake pads and just put up with it. I was talking to a Mercedes mechanic and he said it's a common problem he sees all the time with Mercedes of the same era. It's caused by a faulty brake pedal switch. I fitted a new switch and the problem has never returned. Give it a try!

Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Any update on this? I took a curve hard yesterday and my BAS/ESP light came on. Steering calibration did not fix it. ABS light is not on. Brake lights work fine. No issue with spoiler.
I'm thinking it's a rear wheel sensor since one of them locked for a fraction of a second when I was taking the curve.

Re: ESP/BAS Light code C1210
Light is still off, People have asked if Launch Creader V111will work on other things such as air bags, I don't know since never had that problem to test it but it has cleared air bag light on friends F150 also has worked on a couple other cars with wheel sensor problem and been correct. Sorry but I think Crossfires are prone to glitches. Just from disconnecting battery to work on this I had to put over 150 miles on car to get computer to stop saying [ not ready] so I could pass smog test, on most cars it would only be about 100 miles to clear.
