Won't Start Please Help!!! 2005 SRT6
Re: Won't Start Please Help!!! 2005 SRT6
So I am not familiar with this system yet because I have yet to have a reason. But looking through the manual, I see the battery grounds to the fender, G107. How is the engine grounded? Another cable from the fender to the engine? Once I get my car out for spring, I am going to check this out. Now I am curious why the battery ground doesn't go the engine for best starter performance.

A "click" but no start is usually a ground issue. Doesn't mean the starter isn't failing internally though. So, if you have cleaned all the connections as well as battery cables checked for corrosion or tears, then...it could very well be the starter. Good luck...

If the starter solenoid is operating properly and the car starts once in a while, it could be that the brushes in the starter motor have jammed and only contact intermittently. Those brushes spark furiously when power is applied to them and the brushes slowly erode away until they reach the end of their travel, this is usually when the wires attached to the brushes hit the brush holder.
Also the solenoid activates a switch that powers up the starter itself, maybe that is not working.
It all depends if the solenoid is working properly, if the click comes from somewhere else we can assume the starter is OK.
How many miles on this car?
I think this is the basic method of starters in operation, at least the ones I have monkeyed around with.

The bad solder joints is not the only issue with these RCM modules. Very often the contacts on the relays go bad. The coils can also go bad. Sometimes the relay would make audible click and even visibly make a contact but still not enough to properly conduct because the contact points are so bad. I have a refurbished RCM module for sale if you're interested PM me. I can't guarantee that's your source of issue but you can try. Worst case you'll have a spare RCM when yours go bad.

Hey guys, my car has been up and running since 2/27. The issue corrected itself and had about 50/60 starts without further issue. The car was sitting over the winter here in Massachusetts I started once a week or so but that's about it. At this point I am allset as the problem is no longer reoccurring; which is not what I want to see, but until next time. Thanks to all for the support. Very much appreciated!!!

These cars are incredibly sensitive too poor battery performance, it is an absolute must to perform good battery maintenance once or twice a year.
