Default Skreem

I have been here longer than most, nearly ten years and I have been reading the forum since October 2005.

Over that time the problem that has caused the most heartache has been the SKREEM module failures. Someone claimed to solve it by re-syncing his fob, this appears to defy all logic, but whatever, another disconnected his battery and left it for a day or so, problem solved. Maybe these were just little program faults in the SKREEM itself.

I suspect that the majority of failures in the SKREEM are probably caused by a small component failure and the only replacement of the module will work. Electronic parts fail often for no apparent reason and generally at the most inconvenient time. Before replacement an attempt should be made to resurrect the module by reprogramming it. Another cause could be that the halo around the ignition key hole has failed or has had the wire from it damaged or it has become unplugged

If the module was easy to get to I would try and get a spare one programmed for my car just to have a spare on hand.
I am going to contact a company that claims to fix these modules and see what they have to say.

Is the company you are referring to S.O.S Diagnostics? Does anyone have experience with them?

Please let us know what you find out. I also would like to keep a spare on hand. I try to have a backup part for the most common failure issues.

Does anyone know what page in the Service Manual the instructions for accessing and removing the Skreem are?
