Default All kinds of pulley problems

I joined this forum in hopes of better technical support compared to various MB forums. I have an '03 SLK32 AMG I bought last year with only 20000 miles. Earlier this year I replaced the serpentine belt and a bad idler pulley below the SC pulley. Last night my belt fell off but in a few minutes I had it back on and drove 4 miles home. This morning I took the belt off and discovered the tensioner was bad, the SC pulley had a very very slight wiggle, and so did the water pump but no leaks. How much wiggle is okay? I'm not hearing any squeaks, knocks, grinding, etc.

So, am I correct in assuming the water pump needs replacing along with the SC pulley? Obviously the tensioner is no good but unsure about the others. FYI, I'm not interested in replacing pulleys for more power I just want to keep it stock. I need this reliable as I often take 500 mile plus trips with it.

Thanks in advance!

Talking Re: All kinds of pulley problems

Its all about a slight wiggle and your definition, there is play in pulleys so I am not too concerned, Just keep the eyes on it and all that.

you said that the rotation was unremarkable so the bearings are probably fine especially at 20K.

Enjoy, Woody

I'll start with the tensioner and hope for the best. My experience is low mileage is not always a good thing.
