Radiator Fan Issues
Radiator Fan Issues
Hi!
I bought a 2004 Crossfire and found that it didn't have a cooling fan in it, so I purchased a new cooling fan assembly, but when it was correctly installed it didn't work. The coolant light was on, it was found that the fuse had blown, so that was replaced, but the fan still didn't work. So I bought a cooling fan relay and that just came in today, got it installed, and the fan still won't come on and the coolant light is coming on and off again. Has anyone had this issue and could give me some insight on what else could be going on?

Re: Radiator Fan Issues
Cooling fan relay ? Do you mean the FCM ( Fan Control Module ) mounted on the DS fender well ?
Have you connected 12v directly to the fan ( observe polarity ) to ensure it works ?
If so, then check for 12V on the big wire at the FCM.
The FCM is controlled by the PTCM module via PWM ( Pulse Width Modulated ) signals, could be these wires.
Last resort is the PTCM ( Power Train Control Module ) itself.

Re: Radiator Fan Issues
My Fan seized 5 years ago and I could not drive more than a 1/2 mile until my CF would overheat. When it did, it caused my FCM to burn out. I got it fixed with a replacement fan control module and a Dorman OE spec fan.
First thing I did after un-boxing it was to check if the fan worked before installing it.
