Default testing rear gears and pulleys

----------------------------all test done with my V8 Crossfire-------------------------------
test one,,, stock pulleys upper and lower with 327 gears, ------------- DONE

test two,,, will be stock pulleys and the 346 gears------------------------------ DONE

test three,,, will be stock lower pulley V8 smaller SC pulley 346 gears --------Done
test four,,,will be 185 crank pulley with 346 gears---- by the middle of June --will not happen
test five,,, will be both(stacked pulleys & 346 gears---by the end of June
test six,, back with the 327 wave-trac and both pulleys. by the first week of July
if this works out , Rudy and I are looking at a 373 or 391 ..

up to date on my testing ,,, updated 6-18-2005 with 185 crank pulley

Testing : 346vs 327 sc pulley only//178vs 185// 178with sc pulley vs 185 with sc pulley
The last two month with my car..
Forgot left traction control on , got wheel hop, broken axle.
drove it home , then drove it down to JR's 140 miles
could not get the pass side axle ,out ( we all tried)
replaced all three bushing for mounting the diff.
reinstall the 3.27 w/ wavetrac and my two spare axles

March 11 2015
test 1,,, 3.27 stock pulleys,DR's,,, I am looking at the time slips.
11.35 @ 123,,,1.72 60'
11.39 @121,,,1.72 60'
11.37 @ 122,,,1.73 60'
11.37 @ 122,, 1.72 60'
11.23 @ 123,,, 1.68 60'
11.28 @ 122,,,1.64 60'

May 15 2015
test 2,,, 3.46 with stock pulleys DR's 26” tall
11.29 @ 123,, 1.72 60'
11.29 @ 122,,, 1.71 60'
11.28 @ 122,,, 1.69 60'
11.21 @ 123,,, 1.66 60'
11.28 @ 122,, 1.70 60'
11.24 @ 123 ,, 1.67 60'

May27 2015 first burn out forgot and left TC on, wheel hop & broke driver's axle.

June 3 2015
reinstalled 3.27 rear and my spare axles
street tires,275 35/19 26.6 tall
it was going to rain so my DR's were in the trunk along with the jack, extra 80lbs
stock lower pulley and smaller SC pulley,3.27 rear
11.43 @ 122 ,,1.76 60'
11.31 @ 122 ,,1.72 60'
11.37 @ 122,, 1.76 60.
11.29 @ 122,, 1.70 60'
11.32 @ 122,,,, 1.71 60'

June 17 2005
185 pulley 327 rear, and drag radials
10.96 @ 126,,, 1.68 60'
11.00 @ 126,,, 1.68 60"

June 19 2015 327 gears 185 lower & super charger pulleys STACKED
will post results later tonight.




the 346 does a lot, so yes i want to get the 346 set up back up and running even if i have to go with a ford 9" jim

now to explain that :
Test 3 was with 327 gears and street tires, great results . see above
Test 4 will be with 185 crank pulley/327 gears.,, install 185 today,,,,,,,,, track tomorrow
Test 5 will be when i get back from road trip,,
now the big news ,,
we are building a Ford 9" that will fit any crossfire.

to start with we will have 3.40 gears, new drive shaft,,new axles,,and Ford diff.

Sounds expensive.... but will be the answer to all the pinion failures with the stock style units.

not as much as you would think.,, I have broken 4 diffs. and one axle. their cost with labor to change everything everytime , is about equal , with the v8 only I have have only one diff and one axle that i have failed.

to do the ford 9" of course the first one cost the most, I tested the 327 set up, and now a few people have it ,, I tested the 346 and it worked some may want just that. And now it is time for a ford 9" , thanks Les ,someone has to do it. the 346 at this time is a open rear ,we have not found a posi for it. that is why i want to go with ford 9"

This is the post I have been waiting on since you first started the trial and error process. Definitely can't wait to hear when you figure everything out and what the cost will be. Very interested and appreciate you being the test dummy for everyone.

just curiosity...are the rear gears the same for the stick vs. auto?

yes the limited gets 327 and the SRT get 307.. I have not heard of it differently jim

Jim, I am in the need of either an srt6 rear end or at least the 3.07 ring and pinion. Have anything lying around?

yes ,I do have a 307,, do you need a tcu, i may be able to get one , as i don't have one right now.
