Default Will not shift - code p0715

Hi all,

I've had my crossfire for about a month now. Put a good 2.5k miles on it, and no problems. Today, I drove somewhere 55 miles away. Majority of the way there I had cruise control on. No biggie, I have taken the car for a 4 hour drive with cruise control so didn't expect any issues. When my exit neared, i got over, and it drove fine. Then it was a bit sluggish as I slowed down from freeway speed (accelerating a bit on the long off ramp). Came to a complete stop, light turned green and I expected to dart out, but the car slowly went. Threw me way off. Figured it was all in my head. Went down the road, 2 miles no significant accelerating needed, just cruised. Came to another light, light turned green went to make my turn, car did the same thing, super slow.....super slow. I tried to manually change the gear by tapping the shifter. Would not change from D to a specific gear. Usually it goes 4, 3, 2, 1. I floored it, put the pedal to the metal and the car went slightly faster but got loud.

The only thing I can compare it to is when the clutch in my old celica went out. Or as if i were in a manual transmission car and tried to take off in 3rd instead of first or so. Not as extreme, but it was slipping bad. I had an interview to go to, so when i pulled into the parking lot, I had to turn the car off and go. I quickly turned it off as I parked, and turned it back on. Now I was able to go to individual gears. 4 3 2 and 1. I turned it off, went to my interview. Came back, and the car drove normal. I can floor it and itll downshift. Drove it all the way home, occasionally checking to make sure I can change gears. No problems since.

Any idea what this can be? I dont want it to happen again and I dont want to ruin my automatic transmission.

How many miles do you have on your car? If you're close to 70k, have you ever had the transmission serviced?

Currently at 53k, maybe it's time to flush it and replace the filter. Was leaning towards it anyways since the technical service chart at oreillys said 80k. Will let you guys know if this happens again before I can flush and change the filter.

Update :

Car drove fine on the way home. No problems. Today, the car got stuck in second while accelerating onto the freeway. Pulled over, put it in park turned it off then on. Turned it back on, put it in drive and it jolted into drive. Manually changed gears to 2nd, tried getting back on the freeway didn't move out of second. Got off the freeway. Did the same off then. Still stuck in second. Put the car in neutral while coasting 25mph, put it back in drive car jolted and tires squealed, got stuck in first....

So I drove it home (about a mile away) slowly in first gear. This time my check engine light came on. Scanned it and got code p0715. "Turbine/input shaft speed sensor circuit.

Anyone get this code before?

Most likely one of 3 things :
1. Transmission fluid level low.
2. The conductor plate in the transmission is going bad.
3. bad TCM ( we hope not - $$$$$$ ).

Conductor plate ( I am not affiliated with site ) :

Read this and see if the shoe fits.
Stuck in second gear is the classic "Limp Mode" sign.

+1 on that. I had to replace the connector plate in the transmission. Ever since then, no issues. Best bet is to find a reputable MB mechanic. Luckily I have a good one in the Denver area.

From what I have read, sounds like it's that connector plate. Prior to all this, the car was very sluggish to respond to the pedal. Hoping its only that.

If being stuck in 2nd is limp mode, I guess being stuck in first is super limp mode lol.

No loss of power, just wont shift. Also - when this happens I can't manually change the gears with the +/-
