the beep seems to last forever with the door opened

 

I think all of our buttons flash right when the car starts. Can't check mine, can anyone verify?

Im at a loss honestly, hopefully someone with ideas can chime in.

 

Just throwing this out there ... if you can verify that the battery and connections are good, you might have a bad key sensor. It seems like your car is not recognizing that the key has been removed from the ignition. I don't know what triggers that indication (key in or out if the ignition) but to me it seems that it would be in the tumbler.

Also, maybe a reset would be good for the car. Unhook the battery and leave it for about 30 minutes and let everything reset. That might have a positive outcome.

Hello,

this noise normally appears when the headlights are on and the door is open. In you case there seems to be a fault because the sound appears even when the headlights are turned off. The sound comes from the instrument cluster (KI). There is a little beeper in there.

I think there is something wrong with your light switch, or with the harness that leads to your light switch. To check that you'll have to take a look in the workshop manual and check which cable is giving the signal from the light switch to the KI.

I'm a big advocate of disconnect the battery ..10 minute time out for acting up.. LOL. This "reset" has cured a few tweaks for some people.. and it's free!

You need a new valve stem. Get it fixed don't be driving it. The core is about out of it. The door problem could be either the ignition switch being worn or the door switch sticking. Worn switch thinks the key is still in. Does the key seem to stick sometimes?

 

When you turn off the lights and then turn off the ignition and open the door on my car the fog lights come on.
If you turn off the ignition and then turn off the lights the fog lights do not come on.
If you were to get out of the car after taking out the key with the lights on then the beep would sound when you open the door. when you shut the door the beeping would stop.
There must be a relay that is used to time out the fog lights and maybe it is not working properly and allows the beeper to sound instead of shutting it off in these circumstances.
I assume the fog lights do come on in your car as I mention above, it is a security feature.

How long does the beeping last? Could it be the reminder that the courtesy lights are on? (Fog lights that turn on after u open and close the door and go away in about half a minute)? Just wondering if it could just be a warning telling u that your fog lights are on without the car turned on, but that's just a courtesy feature and should the beeping should go away once the lights turn off.

Could be way off, but just an idea.

 

Sorry, apparently I didn't finish reading the thread before replying lol, someone already mentioned the same thing I did.

 

When the key is inserted in the ignition it trips a switch, if that switch is jammed it would cause a beeping noise, as the car acts as if the key is in the ignition still when is actually removed.

 

thanks guys but im kinda getting used to the sound already. its been almost 3 weeks with my xfire and im loving it. i just noticed that the driver side headlight and fog light are weaker then the passenger side lights. is this normal?
