Interested Brembo Brake System Specifically for X-FIRE ?
Well DAN: ... I think some of us are trying to TRICK OUT our cars and investigating the ways to do it... And in this research, perhaps we are prompting the manufacturers to start developing aftermarket products for the car...
Maybe I'll contact Boeing Aerospace and see if they have an aeleron system that can integrate into the pop-up spoiler...
As far as 10 feet shorter... that is not the reason for the inquiry... It has to do with brake fade as the OEM brakes heat during heavy driving and the front brakes fade earlier which causes over steer on turns... TRACK USE... WHICH YOU HAVE YET TO JOIN ME ON !!!
Do me a favor, unless you have a usefull response to my posts instead of some smart-assed negative comment, don't waste our time... GEEZE...

Hi Derek,
do you actually get brake fade on yours ?? As in same braking point same, entry speed and you end up with a somewhat mushy feel in the pedal and a longer travel until you end up with enough braking force ??
The reason I am asking is because I have run my Xfire very heavily through my local canyons and have not noticed a decrease in brake performance.
But of course I don't run multiple laps through the same corner either, so it may have just "felt" ok.
If I have a few quiet minutes at my local airport I'll try to make a few consecutive braking passes and measure stopping distances.
One other thing you may want to research before that IMHO is the brake balance of the XFire....I think there is too much front bias dialed in from the factory in order to avoid the onset of the tail getting squirrly during cornering/braking. Maybe one of the Xfire techs knows of a way to adjust the bias....if possible on the fly.
Speaking of airports...that aileron thing....now that sounds interesting, but remember that that will introduce adverse yaw which you'll have to compensate for somehow ;-)
Depending on the price of admission for the Brembo set-up I might be interested just because of past experience with them.

Sunny:
Thanks for the e-mail... I ran the car last weekend out at Willow again and I think the heat got to the brakes more than anything else... I truely do not believe anyone would need upgraded brakes for regular street safety...
While at Willow, I ran into the tech manager from the LA division of Brembo and he asked me if I would take the car into their shop in Costa Mesa for a day so they could measure etc. to see if they could fit their SLK32 system directly to the Crossfire or would have to do some redesign and modifications since they have NEVER done a full brake retrofit on the Crossfire.
I figured what the hell and will bring it in to them on my first day off next week...
I'm sure the brake fade was from the consistent heat build up after 20+ consecutive laps, or perhaps a glazing of the front pads, not an under-designed braking system. I think maybe I'm finally starting to find the limitations of the car.
Geeze, I thought it was limitless !!!

I have the drilled and slotted Brembo (F&R) with axxis ultimate pads (F&R) for track use. First time at Gingerman and did NOT notice any brake fade. These things do really grab. I used SLK320 part numbers for the rotors. If they are talking about calipers...then I can't help you there. I'm not racing, just hot laps, so an improved (bigger, better) caliper probably can't be justifiable (for me). But I am thinking about changing to SS brake lines...
I swap these off after track. My setup makes too much noise and vibration at street speeds.

One of constant raves on the Crossfire and the SRT test drives by all the Mag guys AW,MT,C&D all say the brakes are great! If Brembo has a system it will cost at least $3000.But you can change your rotors and pads Brembo has Front Crossdrilled rotos now .And the cost is only about 150 each side! Not $3,000.for different calipers that the average guy will not need.I had Brembos on my 350z track model they looked good but didn't stop any better than my XF.Just a little info.

If you do hear about US availability, as suggested do start a new thread.
