window switches
window switches
I've figured out that there are several differences between these cars, depending on when they were made.
Take for instance, the window switches in the earlier made cars. They're backwards, where as you push towards the front of the car and the window goes down and towards the rear of the car ant the window goes up. If you get into one of the later made vehicles, this was corrected. As you push to the top of the button, the window goes up and vice-versa.
I took mine out verry easily. Just have the key in the on position so you can play with the buttons to see how they work. I didn't need a single tool. Took about 5 minutes to complete.
I have a 6 speed and the leather boot comes out rather easy. Firmly hold the bottom trim ring that lays on the top of the console, lift and move out of the way. It won't come off just yet, so don't try without further inspection. Then reach in with your fingers and pull the outer top piece of console off. This piece holds the switches so be carefuil not to scratch these pieces. Use electrical tape to protect the finish of the buttons. I scratched mine a little so be careful, these probably have to be replaced rather than repaired.
Simply turn the holder so you can see the back of one of the switches.
Push the switch out, take it apart and reverse the inside mechanism.
Replace the switch assembaly, taking care to notice the placement of the button and the symbol.
Repeat this for the second button.
Replace the button holder on the console, test that the windows work.
Then replace the leather boot and you're done.
