I am getting a Check Engine light with a P2098 code. Does anyone really know what this is?

Is that a post catalyst oxygen sensor? what would cause the Fuel to be lean? MAF, Sensor failure? I know the title of the code.

Rather than wait for an answer, just typing 'p2098' into the search feature would have got you. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post505313
Use search and you will learn a lot much faster than asking questions all the time.

I have a P2098 code. The car is making a loud noise as if there is a crack/leak/loose area in the exhaust before it gets to the muffler. I took it to a mechanic (they do Mercedes work) and they told me that I need to take it to a dealer. Now my question is - Chrysler dealer or Mercedes?

Sounds you have a bad header gasket. You own a Chrysler, so take it to Chrysler.

Thank you Anthony. Would a muffler shop be able to do this?

I wouldn't trust one to do the work and most won't. You should take it to a trusted mechanic or Chrysler in my opinion.

The have also been at least two(2) cases of the cat separating at the weld. This would give the same sound and effect as a bad header gasket... and give you the code.... look at the top cat on the passenger side(bank 2).....

If separated at the weld, would the fix be simple, or would it be time to consider a different exaust? I am taking it today.

it will require the shop to install a new one.... easy enough for them to do, just costly for you...

Not a simple fix. The cats need replacement. Costly, but not nearly as costly as the dealer fix.
Thanks to all for your help.
