Default How to take door apart

So I can bang in the nice long dent someone gave me at a restaurant parking lot. It goes across most of the door. I am worried to mess up the side airbag that's for sure.

Why not have a paintless dent repair professional take care of it? They have the necessary tools to fix it with out removing any door trim. Plus they will massage the dent out instead of popping it out and risk cracking your paint!

Thought you're replacing it with those vertical doors. Pretty cool for the Crossfire

Vert door kits just involve a new hinge, requires like 5 minutes to install, uses the old door.

Default Huh?

Well, I've certainly never done the conversion, perhaps you have. But my guess is that there is just a TAD more engineering, fabricating, and perhaps modification of locks, wiring harness and window seals than you suggest.

But hey, if you've actually equipped a Crossfire with these doors in five minutes, who am I to question it?

Yeh, I saw a vid clip of a 350z modified with vert doors and it was sorta cheezy. The guy had to open the door out quite a ways before going up. So the only reason to finally go 'up' is if you are posing. Too ricer-wannabe-lambo for me. Hey what are we talking about, this guy just wants to fix his Crossfire, we got off topic, oh well.

I would like to see that! I'm an engineer (aeronautical) and I would love to see this engineering marvil that can modify a Crossfire door to virticle opening in just 5 minutes.

I would like to see it, or pictures of it before I make up my mind. I think it would be pretty cool. I just want to see how it's done and what the quality is. ...... I agree with Cyril about having to keep my knee out of the speaker.

It's just a new hinge. You take the screws off of the door, detach the hinge and put the new hinge in. It takes maybe 30 minutes tops for one door. I was being hyperbolic, excuse me.

It has to swing out a little ways to clear the door sill. The distance is different for each car.

What is the web address to the company that fabricates these hinges? I'd like to see some other vehicles they have developed this for.

I finally was told of the guy who does it for all the dealerships in my lame town. Today it rained too much. He said he needed lots of sun since my color is too light (silver blue). I will try to catch him tomorrow. I think he can do the long crease dent on the door but I doubt he can do anything on the adjacent quarter panel (around the left rear wheel). I might have to live with the damage there. I would just hate for it to get painted. There is nothing like factory paint, its magical. Body shop paint is no good in my opinion. I will let you know how it goes. If not I am driving to Dallas to visit my sister and maybe you can recommend someone good.

I've got a detailed post entitled "Door Panel Removal" that might help.

I've got a guy in Dallas actually who is GREAT. He will even come out to you if you aren't too far.

This guy needed sunlight? Ehh, stay away! My guy has special lights he brings with him, so he can see the dent at every angle.

PM or e-mail me. I'll give you my guys contact info.

We can save around $1000 if we do a group buy...

My priorites for now :

1. Upsolute chip ( next week )
2. Lambo doors ( when the group buy is completed )
3. Hot wheels
4. Satellite Nav
5. MP3/CD/WMA player

" Crossfire is a beauty..keep it beautiful like you're giving it a boob job"

Just a lame comparison.
