I think the stock batteries are around 40 lbs. I have one of the shuriken 14 pounders on the way too. My battery charger is so old that it only has 2 choices, 6 volt and 12 volt. (vintage 70's craftsman) Yours is not a gel cell. Standard would be my guess.

FP ....you absolutely have a "standard" battery. That is, if it is the original battery, and not one that was added by a previous owner
The 12V AGM is a specialized "absorbed glass mat" unit with calcium lead plates that allows for long term discharge draws in the case of trolling motors, winches, etc. and are extremely $$$$$.
12V gel cell, are like the Optima batteries which actually could be installed upside down and still work great. Very often used in "marine type' applications.
Hope this helps........

Well the charges is showing 100% charged this morning. Let's hope it holds. It is a Mopar battery that was put on by the dealer when I bought the car with 3K miles on it in 2006.
Thanks for the battery info IBLUBYU.

I want to replace mine with the same type and style as the original. It just goes well with the entire under hood experience! Interesting note about the OEM weight, as nimble as these cars are, maybe its neccessary to keep all 4 wheels on the ground? (LMAO)
EDIT: Automotive / Truck Batteries - Mega-Tron Plus - 85 Months - 640 CCA
This is the interstate battery (MTP-H6) they reccommend for the XF on their website. Its also the same one for the MB SLK320. Looks exactly like the one in my car now.

Re: What Type Battery do we Have?
mrobinso, did you have a problem with the length of the battery you put in? Although its longer (by almost 1/2 an inch) then the one recommended, its height is shorter than the one they call for. It also weighs less too! I also notice its more powerful, and less expensive (crazy, that is). Are you sure your part number isn't MTP-91? I could not find part number you indicated anywhere.
