Default 100w headlight bulbs

The jury is still out on whether I should go with real HIDs or the "HID look" bulbs. I've seen some nice fake HIDs that look pretty damn real.

The question I have here is whether anyone has tried 100w bulbs in their Crossfire yet? I don't want to do be the first to try. lol

Xenon gas filled bulbs which aren't HID will suck the first time you have to use them. Just wait for the first rain fall. You won't be able to see 3ft in front of you.

Spend the money on a real HID kit or just leave the factory ones alone.

not tried them in the xfire but have run them in every other car i've owned some were ok the other like the MR2 and Golf GTI had problems as the wiring looms were not up to the job.

Currently runing xenon bulbs with standard wattage in the xfire, much better than standard units.

there was a post concerning this awhile back.. I forgot his name but he installed a hid kit in a x-fire and found that the bulb is too long and isn't projected thru the de lenses like the stock bulbs and doesn't give as a good as a beam pattern as the stock setup.. I would wait til someone comes up with a hid kit that gets everything right..

later..

That was me. It was only long because I used a kit from my old car. They were 9005 bulbs and not the H7's the crossfire uses.

If you get a kit built for an H7 design, it will work out great.

BTW I made some minor adjustments to the 9005 Hid bulbs and they are PERFECT. Drove a crossfire the other day w/o HID and when night fell, I hated it!

Here is a photo line up of all the different HID bulbs. Look at the length difference between H7 and 9005.

Here are some shots of HID vs Halogen on my car

Well the manual says the lamps are H7. MY headlight covers have "H7" embossed in the clear plastic in two places each, across the bottom directly below each lamp. Silverstar H7's were a perfect fit.

Now the fog lamps, they are DEFINATELY HB4's (i.e. 9006's).
