Squeaky Rear End
Squeaky Rear End
Took my Alabaster Autostick to the Dealer today. Had a noise and poping sound in the rear. The noise and vibration level in general was higher than the 6 Speed I traded for this Automatic. It makes a squeking or poping noise when weight shifts, like when going out a driveway on an angle, over a bump, or changing from forward to reverse. Seems they forgot or damaged a bushing that dampens the attachment point where the rear spring attached to the body at the top. Had to order the parts. Dealer said they will replace the spring & bushing "when they get it." Don't know if I would have recognised the difference in noise & vibration had I not had the 6 Speed. tThe poping obious, but hard to pinpoint, I could determine it was coming from the Rear somehwere. ops:
Took my car to have the windows tinted yesterday. Mine still makes the noise, it depends on what going on. When I go out a drive way on an angle its obiously suspension, a squeaK or poping sound, when I am just driving down the road and hit a bump, it sounds like its comming from the hatch area. , it a slightly different sound, more of a rattle, but I think its from the same source. It is possible its two different problems, but I don't think it is. Still wainting for parts.
Finally got my sequeaky rear end fixed. The part (rear spring) was ordered 8/29 and came in Tuesday 11/10. Kind of a long wait. According to the Parts Dept DC had to have some made, so they are "instock" at their Depot now. So I presume anyone else with this problem won't have to wait so long. They installed it yesterday and solved my problem.
My problem was not the Hatch, they replaced a rear coil spring. Either the spring was bad or a bushing was miss aligned or missing. My problem was a loud poping or clanking, it sounded similar to the sound of a bad U-Joint. When I changed from reverse to forward, going out a driveway on an angle or hit a bump in the road a loud poping or clanking noise could be heard. Basically everytime the weight of the car shifted. The Dealer replaced the spring, no more niose. Hopefullly mine was the only car with this problem.
The rattle noise in the area of the rear deck lid is the deck lid itself. You can fix it by LOWERING the two rubber stops located on each side of the lid about 3/4 of the way down from the top of the lid. I only had to lower each one less than an 1/8 in. to solve the problem. You need an allen wrench or hex style driver bit to loosen the screw. Each stop acts as a cusion against the body. If it is not low enough, it allows the deck lid to touch the body metal-on-metal when you hit a bump just hard enough.
