Default Miles at first oil change

They old advice used to be to make your first oil change at 1,000 miles or so. Now, I read more and more that it's best to let the engine break in with the original oil for 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

Anybody have real, current advice?

Current engine manifacturing technology does not require the break in period. The myth of keeping under 55mph when new is also outdated advice. The crossfire uses synthetic oil which has superior properties and doesn't break down as fast as regular oil.I would be interested to see when the oil change monitor tells you to change oil.I will probably change my oil at 3000 at first and then let it go for 5000 miles.

why doesn't anybody believe me when i tell them that? I've even read that driving it like you're gonna drive it for the life of the car during the first couple thousand miles is better than babying it..

later..
