radio LED brightness and daytime running lights
I have decided to give them a month to change the equipment or solve the dilemma. After that I will ask you to join me in a group action decision. The true power of the internet is our ability to act as a group. Your answers to my questions have been really great. Keep them coming. Any info on running lights situation?
Here's their answer to my email:
Sounds like they're really getting to work on this ---NOT.

That is some canned email auto reply. Did not address any specific problem. I thnk DC is really going to struggle with the customer service aspect of appealing to/keeping the higher end buyer. I know coming from Lexus customer service that it was going to be tough to beat, but DC needs to step it up.
got a reply-no running lights in USA-would take a rewire-have been holding 23 min and still no answer re radio-got email that was a total bluff that said to use the **** for the dash lights to adjust the radio
-have called several 800 lines and finally got a person-still no answer-said there was a Crossfire Hot Line-untrue-just a referral to another number. There's a problem with this company and I want the radio situation addressed and settled quickly.
Just got the word-many complaints now in and the product evaluation committee is going to come up with a solution and notify us. Stay "tuned"

I have a contact at DaimlerChrysler and she said she has forwarded it to the engineers at DCX.

Big Mike 60 has it perfectly . I find it hard to believe that anyone it accepting of this significant and dangerous flaw. Hopefully they will catch our drift and come across as a reputable company should do without hesitation. If they don't I for one will pursue it through "other" channels.

I am surprised that this problem hasn't been mentioned in a single review, at least that I remember reading. If it got mentioned in a publication, citing safety concerns, then Chrysler would be more likely to act. It is also strange, the number of different responses that everyone has gotten to the problem so far... no two responses seem to be the same.
Was adjusting the radio on the list due to lack of brightness?? I think the point is anything can be a distraction, but not having a bright enough display is NOT a safety issue. I know I don't look at my radio, I just push the buttons, because I know where the stations are set.
Not arguing, totally agree they should fix the issue--my only point is that it's not a "safety" issue, it's a stupidity issue on their behalf for even putting in a radio that no one can see in the day time.

I have the same problem and will e-mail Chrysler and follow-uo with a complaint with the Dealer. It's been my experience that the only way to get something fixed is keep complaining. Usually wind up talking to the district service /warranty Manager to solve a problem that the Dealer won't or can't fix. The Head Unit is obiously not up to par and should be replaced, or maybe they could tint the windows for me so I can see the radio? :P :P
Just took first 4 hour highway trip. The car was perfect, but we had serious problems with the radio situation. We were unable at any time to see the face. I had to "play" while doing 75-80 mph and it was not safe or pleasurable. I am writing to the NHSB and will give chrysler one more week to come out with a statement of correction before asking you all to join me in a class action suit. This is absurd and irresponsible. No quality manufacturer would allow this to continue as they try to reshape their image. Even the dealerships are perplexed. Mine is great, but unable to help me.
