Default Mercedes tuners to support X-fire?

I just found out from Brabus, that they will be making their Brabus 3.8 (currently available for the 3.2 in the SLK) conversion available for the Crossfire. Just in case anyone is interested.

It bumps the output to 300hp and 290+ lb*ft of torque. I'd imagine it is kind of pricey, though (probably over $10k)

I'm still waiting to hear from RennTech to see if they will be supporting the Crossfire as well.

I would advise anyone looking for a bit more punch from their Crossfire to check out the established Mercedes tuners, since they will likely have powertrain parts available almost immediately.

A few more details I've been able to glean from other sites about what a Brabus 3.8 conversion gets you...

Custom crankshaft with a longer stroke, finely balanced rods, larger pistons and an enlarged bore... custom camshafts, BRABUS high-performance metal catalysts and revised electronic engine management system.

Also, an SLK with this package (and Brabus exhaust) was reported to do 0-60 in the 4's (4.7 to be exact) and the quarter in 13.2 sec @ 106 mph.

Yikes!! 8-o

This would be awesome, but probably a few thousand out of my price range right now... In 2 years I might consider this for a Crossfire convertible, if Chrysler hasn't already released a higher powered version.

FYI:

According to Brabus (in an e-mail to me), the Crossfire version of the 3.8 'kit' will cost $14k and get you about 292hp.

Yea, I got the same e-mail. I might have to take a visit to California this December/January if I can free up some major cash. Need to start working during the school year too. Jeez. I wonder what kind of cosmetic / badging changes this will include, if any. Does anyone know how much of this cost you get back once you sell the car?

They will also be offering new wheels, but I'm not sure if this is included in the $14,000. I'm pretty sure it isn't. I'll have to see what these look like, because I very much like the current rims on the Crossfire.
