Performance Mods
Does anyone know exactly which MB year & model one should look at for performance mods for the Crossfire? Ebay has a ton of stuff for MB but not sure which parts are interchangeable. Did notice that the SLK dash and center console are almost identical to ours. TIA

The Crossfire engine is the same engine as in the Mercedes SLK 320.
Here is the Crossfire engine:
Here is the SLK engine:
The engine bays look very similar, so most parts should be interchangeable. Any year SLK 320 should work. I am interested in if we can put the kompressor from the AMG in.

Just found this link:
http://www.powerchipgroup.com/intera...sp?pid=Mer0092
Supposed to add about 19 hp. Downside is it costs $640. I e-mailed them to see if it will work with the Crossfire, will post reply once I get one.

Sounds there are some SLK 230 mods out there
sounds like they are introducing a 7 speed transmission in 2004

Does the Xfire house the same engine as the C32 also? Both are 3.2L SOHC 18valve V6's, and the AMG C32 has a SC that creates 349hp if it is possible to get a Kleeman SC for the Xfire i would really consider purchasing the car, it just doesnt have enough spunk for me with 215hp. A 350hp, 3000lb car is a nice thing to have on the street and it looks awesome too!

The Crossfire engine is the same as the C320. The C32 starts out the same as the C320, but there is more done to the engine than just a Supercharger bolted on. I'm not exactly sure of the specifics. Any Mercedes tuner, like Renntech and Brabus can add a supercharger, but the price is rather steep. For only a few thousand more than the SLK 32 AMG you can have a Crossfire with 410 hp, tuned by Renntech.
Oh do we have a RENNTech guy online?
I've asked this elsewhere but I'll ask again...
I've never modified a new car, both my modified cars in the past had been out-of-warranty vehicles, so please bear with the dumb question.
I'm assuming that doing these upgrades will void warranty, so how easy is it to revert to original if I need to take it in for a warranty repair or will reverting not pass muster either and I'm going to be totally on my own once the modifications are in.

Excellent!
I noticed that MightyJlr posted some price updates after he posted the PDF for the Crossfire, do you guys have an updated PDF price list I can refer to?
I notice also that there is no Package 2, typo or no such thing?
I might seriously consider Package 1 and perhaps 3 a couple of months down the road, what does this involve? I'm the the NJ area, where's the nearest place work can be done and how long does it typically take?
Thanks!

If you're going to get a supercharger definately go with Kleemann. AMG will not sell you a supercharge to put on the regular 3.2 liter engine. They hand build their engines and use different cams, valve springs, injectors and a whole lot of other stuff to make it handle a blown intake. Kleemann will only sell it to you if you get it installed at a Kleemann dealer. Another route is Lorinser which even a dealer will install it for you.
Does anyone make any higher lift cams?
Another thought is having your intake manifold sent out to extrude hone to have them smooth the runners out.. here's the link to check out the whole process.. http://www.extrudehone.com/powerflow.html , you might be able to free up a couple ponies this way.. it all depends on how restrictive the stock manifold is..
chip tuning seems like a great idea also..

According to the pricelist that I have from Renntech, 47BHP gain with a 65lb-ft gain will run you $9,500 from RennTech. That will bring the Crossfire's yield to 262hp @ 5600 and 294lb-ft of torque between 3,000 and 4,600RPM.
It involves an ECU pgrade, carbon fiber air box and a 3.8L Torque Conversion
