Angry National Back Ordered/Seat Heater Modules

Went to the dealer to try to get my seat heater problem fixed for the 4th or 5th time now, 2 weeks ago I took it in and they could not duplicate the flashing seat heater led's lights when first turning on in cold weather at start up, well got it back and WAS P***ED OFF, so I took video pictures of it failing 4 times and talked with the service manager, and showed him that I can duplicate the problem with the video, so why cant the tech??? so I took my car back in, well another week went bye and then they told me the parts were on order, early in the week, then called me back later that week and said that the seat heater modules are on NATIONAL BACK ORDER, can anyone verify this??? like maybe sowardcustoms ? or does this just indicate that there is that many problems with our seat heater modules

4th or 5th time they are defective and you want the same ones installed again? WHY? I don't get it.

My car was out of warranty when I purchased it and found out that my bottom heaters on both seats don't work. I saved a link for an aftermarket heater pad that members here have good luck with.

This summer when I can work outside and remove the seats, I will replaced both heaters with the aftermarket ones. I don't think I would put the factory heaters back in if they gave them to me for FREE.

James

The flashing LEDs appearance during very cold start up is a normal condition. The seat heaters draw a huge amount of current and the seat heater ECU won't put a load on a very cold engine.

I just got a new seat cover due to cracking leather. while replacing this they accidentally cut a seat heat wire. It took over two weeks to get the heater in.

First time was the drivers seat grid burned out, bottom section, second time was the lights flashing and not always working, so they found pinched wires near the radio? and repaired them, the third, and forth, time they could not duplicate the problem, fith time they duplicated problem, and said it was the module, according to Tech Line, now they say its back ordered, and the MODULE has never been REPLACED yet, and might not be in untill April ? if there was not a problem with them then why would they be on national back order??? when we had things on back order it was because there was a larger demand of that particular part, as far as putting a load on a cold engine, or alternator, then why do any other types of car company's seat heaters do not do that, and why does it not shut off the headlights, rear defroster, cabin fan and such, and have to wait till the engine is warm enough to take a load, all of these cause a good load on the electrical system and should be no different then the seat heater and especially only using one side, since I am the only one in my car most of the time, it would seem to me the things that have major draw on the electrical system would all act in the same way, and this happens at 10, 16, and 23 degrees out, and if it was normall I have to say tech line would be telling that to the dealers technicians and not allowing them to replace them under warranty since there is nothing wrong with them, because I have worked in dealerships and they do not like the techs to just throw parts at a car there is a thing called the 3 C's, complaint, cause, and correction, other wise the tech and the dealer have to eat the cost of relacing stuff when not needed and would reject their claims for warranty reimburstment, allthogh later after my SRT6 race car warranty expires, I will be looking into maybe replacing the grids also, since the grids are of poor design and weak griding material, cause I'm sure the other grids will fail eventually also.

The seat heaters draw too much current when cold. I hold the button on until the light stays on. You will see each blink get longer as you hold it until it stays on. Works for me whenever it is below 20. Ten degrees is about 30 flashes, 15 degrees is about 20 flashes and 20 degrees is only a couple flashes. Or you can wait until your butt heats up the seat, about five minutes.

What Blinking? when I turn on the seat heater, the LED on the switch has
allways been solid red. It doesn't seem to matter on low or high temp range when both LED's are lit . Does this have anything to do with model year? Mine is a late 2007 only 100 #,s from an 08. I live in Iowa and have had plenty of cold morning starts, many below zero with no blinking.

giz, don't know if this is year related. Mine is an 04. It has been talked about in several threads before. Basically if you turn on the seat heater below 20 degrees, the LEDs flash a couple times and then shut off. kingkub mentioned this in his original post. Dealers can never replicate the problem because they are not out there at 5 am below 20 degrees. Most of the forum posters concluded that the car cannot supply enough electrical energy under such conditions to allow the seat heaters to be on. That is nonsense. I found what works to get the flashing to stop and have posted twice.
